But there's no proof, spartan fours have died before to conventional arms fire as we saw in halo escalation. And Buck was able to take down Mickey shields by repeatedly punching him. They can't withstand nuclear bombs or it would break the setting.
The way buck took down his shields is because buck kept repeatedly bashing his head to break his neural implant. That or the sheer force of 1000+pounds hurling at you at incredible speeds.
The difference in power between that and a nuclear bomb is far bigger than just the few dozen times he punched Mickey, he would've had to punch him tens of thousands of times before his shields broke. It's simply breaks setting and doesn't make sense.
It's never been stated they can survive nuclear bomb's. Also Spartan fours in Gen 2 armor were said to be equal to Spartan twos in Mark six armor. Of whom were almost killed by a fuel rod canon.
"When she turned to let off a few bursts in the hunter's direction, the emerald discharge from an assault cannon slammed right into her chest with a deafening roar of static, lifting her off her feet and slamming her onto the ground.
Getting knocked over saved her life, for as she thudded onto her back a second green ray of incendiary plasma blasted directly overhead. With her shields completely knocked out and the HUD shield alert honking a furious warning at her, the second blast would have cut her in half."
Halo: Evolutions Vol. II "Blunt Instruments", page 28.
I swear it's been stated I have to look for it. After all chief survived it. Then again it is a video game and logic doesn't always have to make sense.
