Bungie's Matchmaking Working "Perfectly" in Action: A Short Story
Playing Iron Banner yesterday working my second character to Rank 5, and the game started up a 4v4 match on Bannerfall.
"Alright! Interesting change in player count. Might be fun. May get more people along the way though."
The Teams start going back and forth grabbing the Spark, almost igniting the Rift.
"Yeah, this is pretty fun, I can get behind this."
Then the enemy team start to pull ahead.
And then Bungie decides to give the winning team a 5th member.
"Well, that's strange... I guess we should be getting one too... right?"
3 minutes go by, and no new teammate joins as the lead grows from the unbalanced match.
Halfway through, one of my teammates quit, making it now a 3v5 game.
"Now we're SURE to get another player to help make this balanced, right?
No. The rest of the game, about another 3 minutes, went by without a single player joining to restore balance to the teams.
Apparently, Destiny thinks that's a balanced match, and in no way unfair.
That's like saying, "Boy, Usain Bolt is pretty fast and beating other runners by a lot. Let's give him Sonic the Hedgehog as a partner in a relay race."
"You're not playing to your potential, Guardian!"
-blam!- YOU, SHAXX! This game isn't working to it's potential!
