I have been playing and thinking a lot about Destiny over the last few weeks. I've been a long time player, and despite my best impressions and worst reservations about the game, I still enjoy playing it. I still feel that the necessity for grinding and raiding to get the best gear and hence light level is a bit too much. I have not completed the Kings Fall raid. I have logged over 349 hours on the game between 3 characters, completed countless strikes, missions, and Nightfalls. However, I still do not have a single character over 300 light. I can understand and support having a raid and "hard" mode for players willing to invest their time and energy on completing challenges that require those investments. I believe that a more fair system is necessary to those of us who don't have 5 friends or 5 hours readily available to complete a raid to have access to the best gear though. It would be one thing if it were all equal, but those of us who do not have 300+ level gear are being punished in The Crucible. The best events and opportunity for the rest of us to get 300+ level gear is contingent upon us being able to best others who have earned all the top quality gear. That said, it again becomes a time investment hoping that some random drop gives you something that you desperately need in the Iron Banner. It is my opinion that a loot system needs to exist to reward you for tasks that are fitting of your achieved level. Something like a +/- system should exist in relation to your level. So if you are light level 295 for example, any loot you receive should be for instance +/- 5 from where you are respectively. An armor or weapon drop for the above character should range from 290 to 300. That could be more of an incentive to pursue the grind. At some point, you'll eventually make it to higher rankings just based on the percentage and odds of the gear you find. I do still believe that challenge and raid players should be rewarded. I would rather that is through unique items with unique build trees than through light level alone. Light level/gear advancement alone punishes those of us who play in The Crucible and Iron Banner who can't finish raids in one case or another. This is just something to consider. Thanks. See you in Destiny.
