So I tried the Totems cheese today...
Tried getting in a full raid before work. I had about two and a half hours, and joined a fireteam that was all 317+. Everyone in the group had a working mic, sounded adult, and acted mature. As we started the raid, there was no talk of who's doing this or are we using that strategy. Always a good sign.
We get to totems with minimum effort and zero setbacks. As we get to the totems, it happens. The fireteam leader asks if we know the totems cheese. Everyone says yes, and agrees its faster and easier. I stay silent, unsure of how to react. I've heard of the cheese before, and know how to do it in concept. Before today, I had the same opinion of this cheese as I did the no-knight strat; if it gets the job done, and without too much hassle, I don't care.
However, after a full hour on totems we had no success. Most of the fireteam at this point agreed we should just do the normal strategy, but the fireteam leader was adamant. He claimed if we did the normal strat, we would wipe more and take longer. Considering he was the one that died EVERY TIME, I had enough. For the first time in months, I rage quit a raid. Never again will I suffer through the totems cheese. If you insist on it, I'm just going to grab the cp and leave. The warpriest will NOT deem you worthy.
Tl;Dr Kings Fall totems cheese is for noobs who can't do the easiest reward stage of the raid.

People usually cheese things that are hard, totems isn't hard so no cheese. I think the other 5 members of your team were trash, I would have left within 1 or 2 wipes.

9 RepliesTotems done right takes 5 mins...... next people will be working out how to cheese getting to the totems from the ship dock..... has to be an easier way than going up that lift, might have something to do with Titans, Twilight Garrison, Max Agility, Mida Multi-tool and probably Felwinters Lie (it got used for everything else in Year 1, why not Year 2 raid cheese).......

3 RepliesTotems normal is super easy. Totems cheese is super easy. You're a noob if you spend more than 20 mins at totems. The method does not matter.

3 RepliesAfter doing the same raid at least 3 times a week, I'm gonna try anything to give me a different experience. If u didn't know how to do it, u should've said something. If one guy kept dying, kick him.

6 Repliestotems cheese is the easiest thing in the game to do. unless you have a moron on the outside room.......which sounds like your issue. You can have players die during the cheese and still complete it easily. first try. no wipe. its WAY way easier. conversely the oryx no knight cheese is harder,...... just so you know....

Hold the phone. The cheese method comes in handy. There have been times where a player in the fireteam dies and I end up soloing a side to save the attempt. Also just yesterday one of my buddies was having a connection issue and lagging in and back out again so once again I did the method. However doing the method straight out the gate I've noticed people with the aura randomly die... So yeah I like the normal method. But don't hate the cheese if it helps

7 RepliesTotems cheese and no knight strat is for low level weaklings period. If you suggest either of these strategies while raiding on a fire team I host you will get shut down quickly. If you insist you will get kicked quickly end of story.

Totems "cheese" is Totems challenge mode that we didn't end up getting ;)

3 RepliesI do the cheese, I don't have to rely on everyone being 100% alive at all times as one dead person makes the stage more difficult than it needs to be, doesn't mean I can't do the normal strat or haven't done it, the cheese just removes some of the moving parts out of the fight and makes it alltogether more resilient to player deaths.

I have cheesed it twice. One time because the fireteam leader wanted to do it (I was indifferent). Another time because I was helping carry some low level players through. First time, I was inside swapping brand. Second time, I was on a plate. Both times, it worked pretty well, same speed as a standard run. I don't remember wiping. If we did either time, it might have been once. Swapping brand is very easy. It's a good way to carry people. Standing on a plate is about as hard as doing it the normal way, maybe a little harder. I ended up having to run from sword knights, which got me behind dealing with the boomer. I was jumping to stay alive at the end and worried I might die. The warpriest found us worthy just in time.

Couple weeks ago cheesed it with a 318 that never beat oryx. All challenge mode achieved is now you can find lfg scrubs at 318+

Hell, generally it takes longer to explain how the cheese works then actually running totems...
