[b]After the UNSC and Cyprus crew had gathered the shards for research, discoveries where made
Whatever the material was, it gave off unstable amounts of energy and radiation
Further testing was done, as one of the scientists became violent, and greedy, eventually stealing fragments of Phazon, saying he needed to protect them
He was arrested, and confined
And when blood samples and tests where done, they found something unnerving
The scientist's blood had Phazon inside of it, as well as in his body
The substance was invading his nervous system, and his mind, a parasite
It corrupted him, as weeks passed, he slowly mutated
Horrifically, so bad, that he wasn't even considered human anymore, and was out down due to how violent the former man had become
Champions where warned of the material, not to stay around it, as much, much more research needed to be done
In ways to prevent this "corruption", and destroy any traces of Phazon[/b]

[b]Phantom was analyzing a tiny fragment of Phazon in the Lab[/b] This is unnerving... its mutagenic effects are erratic. And the radiation it gives off seems to be the source of it.

It appears to be a extremely radioactive fragment of a planetary body. The "corruption is the effects of the radiation taking different forms.

If thats the case, what happened to your scientist? Was he not taking the standard safety protocols?
