To anyone who has suffered through the Chaperone quest can you please tell me if its worth all the misery I have encountered the last two days?
I am an above average player at Crucible and the highest I have made it % wise is 9. That's right 9%.
Is the struggle I am enduring worth it?
I get outgunned by snipers and pulse rifles constantly. I honestly don't have a chance.
Should I keep going for this shotgun? Please tell me if its worth it?
They need to redo the mechanics big time.
- + 2% for a kill
- + 5% for a head shot
- - 1% for a death
Where it stands right now you have to pretty much triple your score to move up at all. It's just not fun. Why are we being punished for going say 20-10 in a match and not making any headway? Seriously? Who designed this quest?
EDIT 1.
Thanks for all of the replies everyone, a lot of good advice below.
I am just about done with this. I have been switching lists from Control to Rumble to Clash. I am at 80% and called it quits for the day
I am going to give Rift a shot tomorrow since a lot of people were saying use that.
I also had no ideas wins and loses affected your gains. So that's a huge help.
As for some of the others saying I should have had this done already and it's easy.
I have no answers. I walked through the First Curse part of Crucible with all three of my characters one match each. I have no idea why this one is giving me so much trouble.
At first I was playing way too offensively so I slowed it down a bit, and it's got much better.
I am playing as a Warlock for those who asked. On Xbone.
Thanks for all the replies again.
EDIT 2
Got this done. Now onto shot gunning all things. Especially yellow things.

Streaks and Multikills are key

Nugget

Get a good sniper, go to rift, stay on your rift and snipe everyone, i reached 39% in one match

The Chaperone is definitely worth the time to obtain it. Play mayhem game modes, and use your super to your advantage. You do need to get your kills with TLW, only have it equipped. Do not challenge other players. If you are dying to snipers, it is because you were in their line of sight. Avoid clearings where you could be ambushed or team shot. The main thing to focus on is not being killed, and taking advantage of easy targets. Do these things, and you will see your k/d improve dramatically. Playing mayhem and abusing your super/grenade nets you easy kills, for quicker progress. Good luck, and happy hunting.

Two matches bruh one got me to 40 the other for me to 100% I wasn't expecting it so I wonder if it was bc it was the daily crucible ( before these two matches I hovered at 20 for like 2 days.) just didn't use my last word unless I could tell I was wrecking
-
I suck at crucible compared to the bs "mlg" pros that inhabit this forum & it was easy.

Edited by m3nty: 12/6/2015 4:18:54 AMWhen I picked up this quest back up and took my 310 last word out of my vault, it was a bit difficult to get used the a nerfed last word. But once I learned that I needed to play safe and find paths where I can get up close to other players I found that the gun is incredibly fun to use and I will often use it in crucible now. I got a phantom with TLW near the end of the quest. It's not impossible but it is challenging
-
I don't even want to attempt this quest because I'm too busy raging at the imprecation part of the first curse...that gun is terrible
-
I'm waiting till Tuesday then I got mine TLW part was easy after that it was just like a level 40 through the first mission
-
You're on the easy bit! Snipe them if not pull out last word to finish em off. I just can't be arsed doing the last pve bit. -blam!-ing shotgun two bosses, "ain't nobody got time for DAT"

I would help u with it but I'm also on it lol
-
I just finished this quest and PvP part was a struggle for me. What really helped was playing mayhem and getting kill streaks. And, I only equiped TLW for CQC maps.
-
It took me 3 games of Rumble to finish. Shotgun kills took 2 more games.
-
It's really not that hard dude. My highest KD on my characters is 1.2 and it was pretty easy for me.
-
Go for kill streaks. I hung out with a shotgun, Jolders hammer, and TLW in a hallway.
-
Deano
So that's my, Hey, whats that? - old
When i went on a 15 killstreak, that helped -
Obviously not above average player then
-
Actually I didnt even care I just did pvp but completed it. Also ambush is what u must do
-
Not to put you down, but if you are a "good" crucible player this shouldn't be hard if you do this in Rumble. Rumble is very good for CQC. 2 and 1/2 matches and my quest step was done. The shotgun part was a breeze.
-
Only equip last word when you have heavy ammo or a super, get your kills then switch to a different primary. Also equip it if your team is about to win a match.
-
If you can't do this very easy step you don't deserve it. It's been out for 2.5 months now anyways.
-
Yo, you know you need killstreaks right? Unless you plan on having3.0 k/d games you need them streaks.
-
What console? If ps4, I'll help you.
-
The chaperone is worth the quest. I'm decent at PvP and didn't have any issues. Only equip TLW when you have heavy or super. Get your super/heavy kills and run away to remove TLW. It seems to count kill-stream when the weapon is equipped and ignore deaths between. It took about 5 decent games to finish it (assuming you don't take stupid deaths).
