Weapon parts were never a problem unless you were a slot-machine junkie during HoW and spent all your parts re-rolling weapons. I've got over 1,800 parts and I infuse stuff all the time. I just didn't spend them like gambler on a Vegas bender. I used the weapons I received and somehow still managed to kill Skolas enough times to get bored of him. I didn't need God-rolled weapons to do it.
I don't blame DeeJ for poking a little fun at the people in an uproar over weapon parts. You guys dug your own holes, and now you want to complain because Bungie didn't "fix" your situation the way you wanted.

I have to agree and disagree. Agree: players did dig thier own holes with re rolling the snot out of every weapon they got. The lack of weapon parts is NOT bungies fault. They put a feature in the game that almost everyone took advantage of. Now the community feels like bungie should fix this problem. Well thats people for ya. Disagree: despite this not being a bungie fault does in no way give anh of them the right to be snarky or passive aggressive to the community. It unprofessional period. I deal with the public in my job all day every day. Believe me when I say that alot of them are worthy of a snark or ten. But i cant, and i wont. Im a professional at what I do and I will not sell that title for a snippy remark.
-
Yeah, I kinda got off-topic with that, seeing as how the thread was about Bungie being snarky. And you're right, in any sort of professional situation, its not a good idea to be snarky. On the other hand, it would be a bit weird to see them being all Prim and Proper Sales Guy in their communication with the player base. I kinda like the fact that they come across as real people. I thought Luke Smith's whole "throw money at the screen" comment was hilarious and that the community took it way out of context. But I'm weird.

I got to agree with this. What are people buying that they're running out? I upgrade my gear the moment I get it and I always have 600-1k... if you're always dumping weapon parts and motes on faction and you keep running out... isn't that your fault for wasting them to begin with?
-
You started playing destiny with the taken king didnt you? Lol House of wolves had a "reforge" feature that allowed players to reroll any legendary weapon at the gunsmith or lord saladin. The cost of reforging was some glimmer, motes and weapon parts. Alot of players would sit and reroll weapons until they got the "perfect" roll, also known as the god roll. This for some was quick and believe me lucky. For most though it chewed up all of thier motes and weapon parts and even then they may not have gotten the roll they were looking for. This feature is all but gone but the aftermath (lack of parts) still lingers.
-
Been playing since beta last year, I also re rolled a few guns but didn't need to re roll a lot. And have yet an urge or need to up my factions rep with anyone... So basically people are buying tons of lottery tickets and trying to figure out why they have no money...
-
Yup. That about sums it up. Rediculous I know. Its like blaming your boss because all your money went to the casino.
-
Even if the reroll "was" the problem, the lack of weapon parts in game is bad, since most of the engrams you got in game are for armor and the ones you got for weapons are for infusing or they give you low amount of parts, one day i got 5 engrams for weapon 2 for infusing lvl 95 and 3 to dismantle and only i got 1 part from each, so... yeah they need to fix this shit, by the way i save my parts from HoW but just for lvling my heavy weapons took me a lot of parts. By the way, talking about heavy weapons, someone have the same problem of not getting legendary heavy weapons? in this week i got one but it turn into a mote, i got from blue but with light of -170...
-
I actually spent all my weapon parts on faction xp thinking the drop rate would stay the same after TTK. Boy was I wrong...
-
Damn, that sucks. I came into TTK already above rank 25 with New Monarchy so I was able to start my exotic quest with them right away. I've not seen a need to rank up quickly as I don't particularly care about getting all their shaders/emblems/ships/etc. I have noticed that faction rep is much harder to come by these days, so I can see why people who want those faction packages would be enticed into doing that.
-
This I can agree with.

Edited by darklordmtt: 11/6/2015 3:41:22 PMNo... I re-rolled a weapon exactly three times in HoW. I'm always low in weapon parts because I use them to upgrade weapons I find & try out. And I find & try out a LOT of weapons. Here's the or let with the current system: Bungie wants us to treat our drops like junk mail... Essentially trash it as soon as it comes in. We do this because it yields parts we need for weapons we care about. The effect this has is to make us hope for drops JUST so we can tear them apart & trash them. Let me ask you: do you look forward to getting home & finding mail addressed to you? Do you hope it's all junk mail so you can turn around & throw it in your recycling bin? That's effectively what Bungie expects of us. To go out hunting for junk, for trash. It completely undermines what I believe their intent for weapons drops originally was: to give us fun variants on weapon designs & archetypes that we'd be excited to try out.
-
The difference in your analogy is that I get nothing useful from trashing junk mail. At least when I dismantle a blue gun I get some parts and glimmer. But yeah, fair point. For players like yourself, who want to level up and try every gun they receive, you're probably going to find yourself short on materials a lot of the time. I would think that the Gunsmith selling weapon parts at least partly alleviates that issue, though. On the other hand, I would also think that players like yourself are not the majority. If they adjust the economy to accommodate the extreme ends of the range, the players in the middle (who are the majority) are going to find themselves flooded with stuff we don't need or even have space for. They are never going to strike a balance that works for every type of player.
-
Spent a lot in HoW myself, but I had no problem at all until they decided some people had way too many and lowered it down. I mean, they increased the number of ways to use and number needed to use and cut down number given. Also, what about newer players? Ones that are maybe just starting out and didn't have time to built a gargantuan stash of parts? Must suck for them....
-
So what are you spending them on? I infuse guns all the time, even ones I don't use all that often and I have no shortage of parts. But you're right, new players without the benefit of an entire year's worth of parts stored up probably have a different viewpoint. I've not played with anyone who was new with TTK so I'm not sure how this economy is working for them.
-
Well ten parts per infusion, have at least two or three guns in each category I was Lvling plus putting nodes on weapons. I was trying new ones, but now I don't bother. If I don't think I'll like it I don't even try.
-
I do pretty much the same. Maybe I just started with more than you when TTK dropped. But I don't feel the need to test every weapon. Each class has two or three archetypes. Once you recognize which archetype it is, you can simply judge whether it has the perks you want. If not, dismantle. If so, upgrade.
-
What's wrong with Vegas benders??? If I want to wake up in a gutter, stained shirt, no weapons parts, no glimmer and the clap who the hell are you to judge? Hunh??? ;)
-
As long as you don't complain when you end up there. Remember drink water!

Good point. Hey, if its good enough for Hunter S. Thompson, its good enough for me. Jeeves! Fetch my Hawaiian shirt and mescal! I'm off to Vegas!
-
WOW!! You just single handedly upped the quality of this entire forum with this post! Well played. (We're friends now. In that completely awkward way of it being one sided, not mutually agreed to)
