I was running the Sunless Cell nightfall with 2 friends. We were at the thrall bridge, and we ran right into the middle of them and started punching and stabbing away. Suddenly my hunter is flying through the air, off the bridge to the right toward the hanging pendulum things. I fly out there for a few seconds, hit a wall and die. It was almost like I got punched by one of the rams in the last KF jumping puzzle, that's how far I flew. And we have no idea what happened!

One was a Titan, but I don't remember if he was running Defender or not

That's probably what happened. My group learned the hard way when we first ran Crota ' s End in The Dark Below.

Nice! I'll have him test this out, he and I usually spend alot of time pushing our friends off of stuff.

He'll have to kill an enemy to activate it, then it should push people most of the time while active. Shoulder charge can also shove teammates quite far.
