If there is no gun on the desk at all, then the crazy person who's been fantasizing of murdering large groups of people at once, has a much harder time going about it. Don't even get me started man...Americans and their gun control laws are in serious need of change. It's not the 1700's anymore. Do you know how many mass shootings there have been in Canada? Lol neither do I but I don't think we've had a massive, senseless shooting in a very long time.
Touchy subject which I'd rather not get into further so I'll leave it there.
Having no guns at all is neither realistic, nor intelligent. No amount of laws will ever keep people, especially crazies, from hurting people. I don't care where you live, more laws doesn't equal more safety...quite the opposite. You arent taking someones weapons away here. And blaming the inanimate object for a problem that a person creates is completely absurd.
Think about what you just said there and let me know when you realize how ridiculous it sounds.
I never said more laws means more safety. But it's common sense...limiting a persons ability to carry out mass murder is a step in the right direction.
These crimes are committed predominantly by people who have obtained their firearm illegally. Something stricter gun laws will not fix. I'm all about doing more to make sure the wrong people don't get them. however, I'm not sure what makes people think that people who are hell bent on committing an act of violence are going to magically stop because they can't obtain something legally. If they want to do it, they will find a way. Only way to limit that is by limiting the number of firearms that can be obtained both legally and illegally. Which is impossible because of the flow of illegal things that flow over the border every day. Not to mention, the ones which are stolen in other situations.
If someone wants to commit a horrid act of violence, they will find a way. And limiting the number of firearms that can be obtained legally will not stop them. Only thing you can really do is confiscate every single gun in the U.S. which wouldn't be done...nor would it make things more safe. Realistically, there isn't much you can do about it...instead of looking at the gun as the problem, there are other facets that need to be explored that are linked with how someone who is nuts got their hands on it.
I know what I said. And as an outsider looking in, things look much more simple than they really are. It's easy to come up with a solution without thinking about what has to be done to implement it, how it will be paid for, as well as the unforseen effects it may have on other things that coincide with it. No one said it was easy, but making more laws isn't going to stop someone who doesn't obey them in the first place. The answer is elsewhere.
