And it's not even true, because I would [i]still[/i] need to grind for top-tier gear to Infuse my old stuff, just like for everything else in Year 2. :P

But you're missing the important part... you have those weapons already. Now you have to grind for new weapons and grind to infuse. That first step is a huge time sink.
