Shotguns are starting to fade, and are by no means required in any game mode. A mode in which you swipe other people with a sword for ten minutes would not last more than a week. This mode would probably end in head to head collisions ending with both guardians dead at least 90% of the time. Btw, even shotguns require more skill than sword (which is almost none).
Shotguns require more skill than a sword? Haha, oh that's rich. Yeah, shotgunning someone who's twenty feet away, and being forced to dodge bullets so you can try to hit them with a sword... Hmm... Which one could possibly be more difficult?
The game mode would add variety to this stale multiplayer we have already, and I have mostly positive replies on this. Just because you'd find it boring doesn't mean other people wouldn't love it. Don't mistake your opinion as fact.
Just saying that "swords only" pvp is a lot more hype than it would actually be. It would just turn into unpredictable matches of endless sword kills. You think shotguns are cheap? Swords are way cheaper: 2x range, instant kill on all pvp targets, no outlier in terms of skill or strategy
In the rules, that I pulled out of my ass mostly, Swords would be two hit kills, thus giving some tactical play aspects. If everyone has the same OP weapon, then the one with most skill will invariably win.
