Like what? More rules? Stricter rules? More mods? Longer bans? "Better" moderation only goes so far. What good is it when people can easily and quickly make alts and go right back to what they were doing before?
-
Clearer rules, stricter rules, more moderators (a lot more) and IP bans. The average 12 year old troll doesn't know how to change his IP address. Those that do will most likely be in the minority and can be dealt with using the increased number of moderators.
-
Oh, a mod shilling for Bungie. Who would have thought?
-
He would be demoted if he was against it.
-
Everyone?
-
Edited by Dayman: 10/1/2015 6:57:07 AMI bet. It's bullshit that Bungie would do this, and it's bullshit that you would basically expect 10+ year members who put in valuable time into the site, and are just denied posting, just because they don't shell out over Beta Testing: The Game to be just accepting of what Bungie did and move on. It's ridiculous. Too bad all the decent mods are gone.
-
I think you gotta rethink your think, man.
-
I edited it. It's late. I'm a bit tired.
-
I see them doing them all a favor. Gtfo and live life quit crying about a forum that has moved on to a bigger fanbase.
-
But if it's only 1% then why charge at all?
-
Charge? It has nothing to do with that. Re-read DeeJ's post. The less than one percenters have a choice. As all consumers do.
-
Yeah I get it, they can get the game or not. So what I'm getting from this is they want everyone to be united under one game?
-
I think (I'm not an employee) that's close. The main forums should have a voice. I totally get that. If I want to wax about days gone by, I'll stick to my private bnet groups.
-
Fair enough, just strange for them IMO to think that 99% isn't enough. 1% seems like a trivial amount to take action over.
-
Vocal minorities are, by definition, a minority. And I'm not talking about the few legacy members who never played Destiny.
-
So why would #offtopic need to be united by Destiny?
-
The 1% you're referring to are, for the most part, the ones who helped make Bungie what they are today. They are the Halo fans that were loyal to Bungie for years. Yes, I'm sure many of them have moved on to Destiny, but does that still make it ok it isolate them? To basically give them a middle finger, and show a complete lack of respect for all their time here? Bungie didn't even give them warning, so they could say their goodbyes. I know they're only "1%", but how much is that really, in terms of individual people?
-
Edited by Legend To None: 10/1/2015 6:24:12 AMNo, no, a lot of the Old Bungie fans have played Destiny. The less than 1% would be the alts or those who refuse to play the demo
-
Edited by Legend To None: 10/1/2015 6:14:32 AMThats a small percentage to need to put on a restricted forum though. Whats the plan for integrating the forums to the game?
-
Good question. Honestly, I'm not sure.
-
I'm assuming the change was to eliminate alts. As crazy Lincoln has shown us, it's pretty easy to bypass this new filter. Those that want to make an alt will still make them. All it's doing is creating a nuisance for some really cool people, and putting a $60 pay wall on an app. Sure it's 1%. Even less when alts are taken into account. However that means alts are less than a percent of the users here. If the update is indeed to remove alts, I don't see the point. The alternative reason would be to make more money. I guess TTK didn't sell well enough.
-
It's the Destiny app. If you don't play Destiny then you are just infiltrating our community. Go look for little boys to molest somewhere else.
-
Tell me you don't really think it's a play to collect money from the tiny posting populace who haven't played Destiny. That sounds like crazy talk. Consider there is also a percentage of the <1% who have played but never bothered to link their account.
-
Out of curiosity, what is the general consensus amongst the Ninjas about this change?
