I had the coin bonus active because I was planning to do a strike after. The bonus was gone after I killed him so I gather that it was rolled but I did not get anything. So it should work.

How do you check if the bonus is active? I can't seem to find any markets saying three of coins is active :/

On your character screen, next to your character there will be a triangle with IX in it to show the 3oc is active.
