No problem bro, the story starts to get pretty big though I'll warn ya. For example, theres alot to be read from the books just to even understand whats going on in Halo 4 lol. But yeah, the chronological order always helps as well, especially since theres been like 5 Halo novels released in the past year. Have fun reading!
