Your book analogy is wrong. In this case its like when the next book comes out, if you did not buy it, important parts of the previous one somehow become unreadable.

I dont think anyone can argue that players who didnt buy the dlc are missing a lot of what they had before. I honestly dont care about missing out on leveling up, new gear, etc. Im mostly annoyed that i cant go and play in a clash only playlist anymore, or control if im in the mood. Pvp has been funneled into playlists based on team size, not game mode. Im not " screaming" or looking for "pity." Im just annoyed that i cant play what i paid for anymore.

If you are invested in the game then you might want to pay for more of it. Bungie wanted all those who purchased the DLC to have all the maps in Ye playlist (which definitely makes sense for a whole bunch of reasons). Since they are splitting the less populous group out from the main one, Bungie was probably concerned about maintaining a large player pool for those stuck in the legacy playlists, so they boiled it down to the basics. The plus side is that when/if Mayhem is considered a part of basic, then it should show up in the 6v6 playlist.
