I've only made it to 250 so far... Been playin around wit the sword to much :)

OMG the sword is so great ! I am on the quest for the exotic sword currently

How did the exotic sword quest come up? Did you reach a certain light level or do a quest/mission for it?

You have to upgrade your existing sword to 280 light and fully upgrade it. Then go see lord shaxx

Infuse your sword until it goes past 280 attack level and max it out and the quest will pop out
