Destiny is an MMO. In an MMO when an expansion comes out all the previous gear you had becomes obsolete.
Therefore you bought an MMO thinking your gear would be carried throughout the games lifespan.

Yes it is a [u]m[/u]MO. With up to 16 players in the game world, it's anything but Massive, more like [u]m[/u]iniscule, so miniscule Multiplayer Online.

Your always online multiplayer. There is always people there with you like every other MMO except in certain areas in campaign missions and in orbit. Therefore making it an MMO.

Bungie has even started multiple times while yes it does have similar feel to mmos the game itself is not an mmo. If you count 16 people an MMO then damn Battlefield must be an mmo too........

I never purchased the game thinking ":O an MMO" Quite frankly I didn't care what genre it was being placed. I'm a loot whore.
