It's all speculation, but all our current weapons should still be relevant in standard crucible. That's why I'll be keeping my hopscotch for now. I may find something better in year 2, and I'll enjoy using that too.
Let's put things in context. Pve players are worried about fatebringer becoming irrelevant. Why use fatebringer? It makes completing current activities easier. It's not the most versatile handcannon, but people love that firefly for getting to the rewards quicker. Nobody is stopping anyone from using it in vog in year 2.
There will be loads of new weapons, for loads of new activities. We don't even know what the 'next fatebringer' is! There could be something that completely eclipses it!
Are people really that afraid of the unknown? Don't be scared guardians, it's just a game! Everything will be alright, you wait and see. Moaning about it now just makes you look silly and closed minded! Save the tears for when you actually have tangible evidence that Bungie 'ruined' your experience.
