Indeed it was!
And if you recall, the UNSC and Covenant both have a half. This was recently resolved in Halo: Escalation, where Dr. Halsey set a trap for the UNSC, and got a hold of their half.
Currently in Escalation, Dr. Halsey and Jul have just reached the Absolute Record. Don't know what's gonna go down, but we do know that Halo 5 takes place after the events of Escalation.
