That is also why there is a recharge penalty evertime you use one And there is no skill involved in using Thorn. If you can hit the guy in the foot you can kill him, that is not skill. Thorn is a crutch. period. Unless you are right next to the guy or are a dumbass and walk right into it, it is hard to die by grenade. Just be aware of your surroundings
