Jesus said I am the way, truth, and the light. No one shalt come to the Father except through me. Mary, angels, and saints can't do anything for you.

9 RepliesI was raised catholic and went to catholic school all the way through high school. I left the church in disgust over the child-rápe scandal. My biggest problem was the way that they dealt (or didn't) with the problem. These rápists should have been turned over to the criminal justice system. How can we reconcile the actions of HMC when she acts like this? It makes me sick to my stomach.

6 RepliesEdited by Treebeard: 6/15/2015 12:19:43 AMMy school priest (I was raised a Catholic and went to a Catholic school so we had a priest, I'm now atheist) was arrested in 2012 for historical child abuse of a terminally ill kid in the 80s and possession of child pornography. What's worse is that the Church knew and didn't even tell the police. They just relocated him to my area which is more 'remote' to draw attention away from it and stop him from doing it again, yet he ended up working in a school. My question to you is: how do you support a religion where this is such a widespread problem? I certainly can't reconcile my conscience with that. That's part of the reason I am atheist. Another problem I have with the Church is how it is one of the richest organisations on Earth and yet Jesus actively discouraged excessive wealth. He said all wealth should be used to help the less fortunate, in the Sermon on the Mount, I believe. Not hating, just curious.

3 RepliesMy friend, that I've known for years told me that if she got married there would be no way out of it. Catholics don't believe in divorce. Only in very specific circumstances. But she also mentioned something about it being tied to her own church where she worships. Do you know anything about that?
