The problem isn't range, it's TTK. Most pulse rifles have a .7 TTK where as Auto rifles are sitting around a 1.10 TKK. You can triple body shot someone with a pulse rifle and kill them just as fast as if they landed every single shot on your head. Close/Medium range is still dominated by Handcannons/Shotguns, Autorifles have no room to play.
