Gays? What you think about them
I am gay. I am solemnly asking for all opinions. I don't care if your against gays or homosexuality, I just really want to hear all your opinions. My entire family is against gays because they are Christian so I'm pretty much screwed in life

Go ahead do whatever you want it's your life life and if you think buttsecks is hawt then don't let others tell you otherwise you have just as much right as anyone else. But we will continue to use fgt as an insult because we have freedom of speech as well.

I know plenty of cool people who are gay. In fact, the best player on my JV highschool lacrosse team is gay.

3 RepliesI do my best to treat people as individuals and resist the (very human) impulse to lump them into categories based on single aspects of who they are as a person. I've found that the times where I have slipped up and thought of people as "members of this group or that subset" that I then start making generalizations about them, and most times those generalizations don't "work" or fit the people who I've put into the groupings. My attempt to "make it easier on myself" to think of people as "this group" or "that group" only make it harder due to the errors and assumptions. For example, your statement of [quote]My entire family is against gays because they are Christian[/quote] is such an instance. You've taken a group (your family) and then assigned them a trait (not liking gays) and even decided the reason that group thinks a particular way (because their Christian) that then pigeonholes people based on any of 3 qualifications. Sure, it makes it easier to understand, but it ignores that each member of your family is an individual and may be an exception. It also implies that any Christian is going to dislike gays, and that anyone who does dislike gays may do so due to their faith. It puts assumptions onto any of those three groups that anyone else who shares a trait, is going to "follow the pattern", when every person has their own thoughts, their own feelings, their own likes/dislikes, and so on. Like I said, it's a very human trait to want to group people, and it certainly is a time-saver and makes "things easier". But it is inaccurate and many times, it is simply wrong. It does take more effort to deal with people one-at-a-time, but in the end, it is the only way that really allows you to see that we're not defined by "membership in an arbitrary group based on one part of who we are".

13 RepliesI don't agree with gays but i don't discriminate. Just keep it private. Its really disgusting when men kiss men in public. Gays say, well a man can kiss a woman in public why can't we!? To that my friend i say, men kissing a woman is natural, its supposed to be like that. Men kissing men isn't at all natural and is gross to most. I say natural because men are supposed to be with women, thats how we multiply. Being gay isn't natural because obviously 2 men cannot create offspring.

What I think about gays? People are people. Be nice to me, I'll be nice to you. Being gay won't change how I treat you or anyone else. Same goes to my family and the few friends I have.

I never liked or understood gay people. then off e day a gay guy got introduced to my circle of friends. After a while of him hanging out with my friends and bringing other guys around I just got used to it. Then one day we had a long conversation about why he was gay and a whole bunch of other things. After that I accept gays for who they are and can get along with pretty much all of them. So as long as you're happy with who you are, it doesn't matter what anyone else says.

Homosexuality shouldn't be exaggerated nor hidden, honestly. People shouldn't be forced to conceal their lifestyle, but they really shouldn't be sitting on their high horse soliciting praise. As for OP, you can't let your family determine your fate. Your family is going to have to get over themselves because, low and behold, it isn't their life and they have no place judging you for how you live it.
