To handle the bag, you mean? Yeah, it's tricky. That's why you can buy these plastic holders... like a jug of water. Then you put the bag in it, cut a corner, and pour it out using the plastic holder.
Otherwise, the milk itself feels and tastes like any other milk. :)
The holder you buy separately and keep reusing it. I agree it's odd, who knows why it's done that way. Though not everyone buys it that way and you can absolutely still buy milk in cartons. Maybe for historical or business/financial reasons.
