You haven't played the shrine of oryx mission? They were still communicating with him.

They were communicating with something beyond the solar system. They never said it was Oryx, the shrine was simply named after him. My guess is Oryx is long dead and is seen as a god to them now, and they were simply communicating with other groups of Hive around the galaxy.
