I have seen the trailers, and pre ordered the game, but I'm not 100% sure this game is free roam. I mean, I'm pretty sure. Can someone help me out?

It is, to a certain extent. You wont be able to leave the tower through the back door and go out into the open areas seamlessly, to enter/exit the tower you will need to get there via transport (loading Cut-scene). However when you select to go on Patrol to say...The Devil Lair, you will be Free to explore the whole map Free Roam.

2 RepliesEdited by McKayBros: 5/2/2014 9:25:53 PMAs far as we know from what we've been told, Destiny is Free Roam. However, for the sake of presentation and trailer footages, scenes have been clipped, edited, scripted and areas have been blocked off. What we are shown is only a small portion of a smaller part of an enormous open world that Destiny offers. Even in the Beta, we may run into boundaries that will be saved for the full release, but we still get more than the pre-alpha version they've been messing with for a while. That's why we have Shrikes and Sparrows; to traverse these immensely large areas and cover more ground faster than walking and running. The trailers and such only seem linear so we see what they want us to see. Only for now though, so I wouldn't worry.

Patrols are a free roam mode where you can hunt for treasures ( loot ) do faction missions or just mess around and kill some aliens.
-
No one knows for sure, however they seem to be hinting away from the idea of seemless Freeroam. :(

If you're wondering if you can run from old russia to the tower seamlessly. I believe the answer to that is, in all probability, sadly no...
-
Yup. Free roam confirmed.
-
If there are chests or loot piles I will find them. If there is map scrawled onto a wall i will read it and follow it to candy. That is what free roam is.
-
Yes, it has free roam. You know, one of the greatest concepts of the game?
-
1 ReplyFree roam is small level areas.
-
4 RepliesThe look of the game suggests that, but honestly nobody knows exactly what it is at the moment.
-
When you say free roam do you mean do what you want in whatever way you want? Or do you mean your able to go wherever you want to no matter the circumstances? From what i've seen it appears that you can go and just roam around the different areas, but they are not small at all. Considering these massive landscapes and cities we'll be able to visit, i think its safe to say there will be a free roam.

1 ReplyIronically Gavin from RoosterTeeth just wandered off from the Strike demo they tried out at Bungie HQ and ended up in a Public Event by just randomly roaming. Given that alone, you can probably free roam even on missions only to be reminded by the Ghost if you summon him to remind you.
-
Yes, when you select patrol missions it is free roam on the world map.
-
3 RepliesPatrol missions allow you to freely roam the map for Xp and random activities (probably higher chance of a pub event). Strikes specifically set you down at a location on a planet to complete a mission, and both are chosen on some kind of menu called "The Director"

Supposed to be.
-
Yes if you watch the ign rewind video he said during his preview he was up about sniping down on the enemies
-
There are different modes and levels and one of those is free roam ^_^ hope that helps.

It's free roam

It is freeroam.

I sure hope it is
