It would be really cool if we had to do some sort of space battle before we land on new planets, the Halo Reach space battle was nice.

4 RepliesIt would still be cool to be able to fly our solar system. Though it really is out of the scope of Destiny and would likely take a lot of work for a pretty boring ride. Since the traveler arrived, we could safely assume we've achieved ftl speeds. And since it only takes light about 8 minutes to reach Earth from the Sun, at ftl those massive distances could be traversed rather quickly.

14 RepliesEdited by DJenser: 3/5/2014 7:13:59 PMRealistically speaking, unless we created FTL travel (or some other means of overcoming Einsteinian time dilation), travel to other planets will still take years. Maybe not for us, the players, but years will have passed on Earth while we were zipping along at near-[i]c [/i] speeds. Honestly, I don't think we're "trapped" in our Solar System. What's keeping us here is that the keys to our salvation lie scattered about the system and we need to clear out all of the squatters in our backyard in order to get at them.

12 RepliesThis is also why I question the tech that we're using in the game. We've come up with a number of fast travel systems that could be called faster than light. I wanna know what we're using as far as that goes.

But with space flight in Destiny you could easily just condense the solar system to the size of Forge World and your ship is like a Falcon and call it flying through the map. But whatever. Cut scene ahoy.
