I am going with option 3.
My little brother had a 3DS when he was 7, but wasn't responsible enough, and lost it, he is a little more responsible now, but he can be careless. He has been asking for a new one and I think I will buy him one since his birthday is at the end of October along with Disney Infinity as he wants that too.
I personally think it is ugly, but a good investment on someone you don't want to spend 150+ on, and still get the same sized screen.
I also find it to be a sly tactic as Nintendo promised they wouldn't redo the 3DS after XL...yay technicalities?
I wonder what you call 3DS software now. Are they 3DS games or 2DS games with 3D capability?

I'll wait for the 4DS.

Edited by A 3 Legged Goat: 8/28/2013 10:26:59 PMI think the design is poor and there are better options out for not much more. I already have a 3DS XL too so I wouldn't be replacing my own. With that said, I do kinda like how the Red/Black resembles a PokéDex. It'll be a good Pokémon machine if nothing else, so it's not a definite "no" just yet.
-
I might get one. I actually like the slate design but I'll have to wait and get my hands on one before purchasing. With the hinges removed it looks like they have moved the buttons into a more comfortable position. If I did buy a 2DS I would get it in Red. Looks like a pokédex.

I'm waiting for the 1DS.

Unless Nintendo sends me it free like everything else... No.
-
Wow, that looks dumber than the gameboy micro.
-
I think it will be great for games like super smash bros since its big and gives you a better grip.
-
Not a chance, they should make new IP's instead of a pointless new handheld.

I've been wanting a 3DS, but I just couldn't justify laying that much money out for a handheld console. $150 sounds about right, though. I could care less about the lack of 3D or the inability to fold, although it looks like it might be a bit awkward to hold on to.
-
Why do I need a DS when I can just get games off the app store? Either get them for free or for a dollar. Even seven dollars for Minecraft.
-
I already have a 3ds so why the blood hell would I?
-
For collection purposes, yes. Probably some time next year though.
-
It's a 3DS that doesn't fold....
-
Nah, I already have a 3DS. BUT If I didn't already have a 3DS and had to choose, I'd pick the 2DS. It will be cheaper, can play 3DS games, and I don't care about 3D all that much.
-
Why would I use a 2DS over this.
-
It's coming out for 130$, so for me, maybe because i haven't played pokemon in a while. For next Gen., i will now have a Vita, PS4, and a 2ds, maybe a wii u if i can get enough money.

Edited by ManiQ: 8/28/2013 10:41:53 PMIf it would close I would. So no.

im going to buy enough to make a whole circle of them, then invite a bunch of friends over and act like im cutting a cake and put it on a plate and hand them out, as if it were cake.

-blam!- no. I already own (and regret) a 3DS
-
I think is the stupidest thing they've done for a while. First off they have given it a stupid name. Which average consumer is going to think that the 2DS is going to on par with the 3DS? The new form factor seems silly, why not just sue the 3DS form factor? Wouldn't it have cost them more to design and produce this new case? Couldn't they have just removed the 3D technology to create a cheaper version, or does having a device that looks significantly different help push sales? It loos horrible to hold, the doorstop shape just makes it look like it would have awful balance, and why and the buttons now at the top screen? Also for a handheld console it doesn't seem very portable anymore.

A what? *looks it up* Wow thats ugly.

Am I buying an uglier, functionally worse, downgraded 3DS for 40 bucks cheaper? No.
