With the like button, I lurk more
Back with Bungie.old I used to post in threads semi-frequently, even if it was to just quote pyramid another poster to agree with them. Now if I check a thread that interests me I look through previous posts and if they agree with what I was going to post I'll just like their post instead of creating a post of my own.
Has anyone else become a "liker" more than a regular poster?

2 RepliesI've actually become a much more active member now. The only thing that bothers me about the new layout is that I don't seem to read anybody else's comments, unless they're immediately below the OP.

I don't see the point in liking posts honestly, I mean what must the recipient of a 'like' do; post again in his own thread telling everyone that he's glad they liked him and embarrassing himself in the process for the admiration of his peers? Most wouldn't and that's more like the Baftas than behaviour appropriate to an instant forum so it seems to me that this is just a sure fire way to see every thread die, covered in pretention, without response.

1 ReplyI'm pretty stingy with my likes. For me, they are a combination of saving a topic/post and a way of letting those who follow me of a topic/post that I found to be "something you guys may want to look at". Sort of an "internal share", but really low pressure. I shouldn't be as stingy with them, but the fact is that if I see something that strikes my interest? I am more likely to reply than just like. Maybe because I like seeing my own words on the screen (the online equivalent of loving the sound of your own voice).

I remember seeing many posts that were simply quoting a previous post in the thread supplemented with "This" or "QFT" (Quoted For Truth). The like button has eliminated this repetitive text, but I also feel that I'm not posting as often because of it.

I find it's the whole system of comments and sorting as well. I usually jump into a thread, leave my two-cents, like a few posts and go. So yea, same here.
