All you meat eaters out there, I know you're lurking over some amazing steak recipes. The last time you had steak was a while ago and now you're entering a thread of juicy steak goodness. What is your favorite kind of steak? And "secret" tips or recipes you're willing to share?
I'm more of a Peppered New York Strip kind of guy. Medium Rare, minimal seasoning (pepper), sizzling butter and an appetite to match.
Also, beer is always great with steak.

>mon visage when someone thought steak was better than lamb or fish Pity they're so expensive compared to steak. I just cook mine on a pan with butter, medium rare, bit of a mustard, garlic, salt and pepper mix rubbed in an hour before cooking. Fry onions and mushrooms in the juices and remaining butter. Bretty gud

3 RepliesEdited by FoMan123: 3/20/2013 12:51:20 AMMost of you have no idea what a good steak is because you eat the corn-fed fatburgers they give you in nearly every restaurant and then gush with your friends about how good it was simply because you paid $30 for it. Telling the kitchen to give their best guesstimate as to what "medium rare" is won't help you and it will never help you. I'd rather eat a week-old squirrel corpse roasted in the flames of an oil spill fire. If you're not demanding a juicy, organic, grass-fed filet or NY strip cooked medium rare with nothing but salt-and/or-pepper seasoning, you're an uncultured neanderthal and might as well stick with McDonalds.

is it still art if it's made of poo?

1 ReplyEdited by WickedNavajo: 3/20/2013 1:54:59 PMI think one of the more common types of steak we buy is chuck steak, sliced thin. It's good well-done, with a bit of seasoning and barbeque sauce (not A-1), especially this one recipe my dad makes. It's awesome.

2 RepliesI like my steak black and blue (charred on the outside and rare on the inside) I'm also a huge fan of tuna/swordfish steaks too. Add some wasabi mayo and some arugula lettuce.... Dammit, I'm so hungry now

Medium rare, spicy as -blam!-. No sauce just beer.

Medium Well.

Rare is the perfect steak? Yeah... no.

I'm a t bone fan much more than a rib eye fan, personally.

A nice, tender medium-rare steak with sauteed onions, peppers, and mushrooms is the best thing ever. Shame red meat is so bad for your heart.
-
Peppercorn/peppercorn sauce is delicious on steaks. I prefer my steaks medium.

I have obtained a few of these meals from the local story. It was worth the time and effort to retrieve them. I like my steaks bloody...
-
I like my steak brown. I don't know what sort that is but it's gotta be brown.

Edited by HurtfulTurkey: 3/19/2013 10:13:42 PMMedium rare or you're doin' it wrong. And if your beef doesn't suck, you should never need anything more than a bit of salt and ground pepper; steak sauce is for crappy meat.

Edited by Raptor: 3/19/2013 10:12:10 PMMontreal steak seasoning....*drool*

Either rare or medium rare, depending on my mood. Cooking a steak anymore than that should be a crime.
-
Medium rare, and medium for the win.
-
Rare, with a pepper sauce

Steak is a beautiful thing. I always get mine with sauteed portebello mushrooms.
