I can't get into Destiny 2 on PC (Steam). Every time I launch it, I get this error:
"Failed to download configuration files from Bungie servers, please try again. For more information, visit help.bungie.net and search for error code: nightingale"
What I've already tried:
- Restarted the game and the PC (several times)
- Cleared the Steam download cache
- Verified integrity of game files in Steam (result: all files verified successfully)
- Ran ipconfig /flushdns
- Changed DNS to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4)
- Tested on a different network (phone hotspot): same error
- Checked Windows Firewall: Destiny 2 is allowed on both Private and Public networks
- Ran netsh winsock reset and restarted
- Confirmed no proxy is enabled
- Disabled IPv6 on my network adapter
- Ran Steam as Administrator
- Checked that no VPN is running

Additional note: when I first installed the game, I copied an older backup of the game files into the install folder before the download finished, then let Steam download the rest. The Steam file verification now reports everything as valid.
Since the error happens on two different networks and the game files verify correctly, I suspect the issue is on the account or server side. Could you please check my account and advise what else I can do?

3 RepliesHi there, Thank you for reaching out. It sounds like you've already gone through most of the troubleshooting. That said, please consult the "Additional Troubleshooting" section of our Nightingale error page, in particular the following:
If you have exhausted all troubleshooting resources, please delete and then re-install Destiny 2 on your device. If re-installation does not improve your experience, it may be due to damaged or malfunctioning hardware and you may want to check to see if other games work properly.
Please go through the above and let us know if the errors persist.

1 ReplyCheck the Environment Variables of your Windows installation; are there values that are outside the normal/usual? Something you added/changed and you forgot about?
