REVERT THORN

Thorn seems to have fallen out of line with other HC options such as its counterpart Rose, Eyasluna, Ace, Spare Rations. I could go on but, the point I am trying to make is revert Thorn to its original buffed state. Why would we want such a thing? Well, the gun went from an S tier option (my opinion) to something that can’t compete in the meta today. My Favourite weapon of all time so this comes with extreme bias, it’s all good tho🫡🫡🫡

  • Poison for a short time was an option for character building. The realigning of this damage class has been piecemeal for lack of a better word. Thorn and other poison weapons have been given the similar treatment. Same can be said for armor. Had some favorite poison builds that haven’t worked right for some time now. If I was to guess damage for Thorn was realigned to poison so less potent than before.

  • I like where you going with this, I think if thorn could three tap with one head shot and 2 body shots along with counting poison damage into that factor, then sure I’d say go for it, which wouldn’t make it a faster killing weapon just an ease of use type of thing but idk man that’s a hard weapon to bring out of the shadows in this sandbox with all the new damage perks that hand cannons have access to now days. I think it literally needs a new exotic perk adjustment to make it excel at something special above other hand cannons outside of poison

  • It needs better range and for the poison to be more than just a gimmick, but then you run the risk of it being a more consistent two-tap machine like in the before-times and that makes people angry too. The real problem is that many Exotic primaries just don't do anything worth caring about in PvP where lethality, kill-chaining, and surviving are king. All Thorn does is lower the affected target's survival chances, but it doesn't have the lethality to make that aspect matter. This is why Legendary primaries, outside of a few edge cases, take over in the Crucible. They can get the perks needed to work in the Crucible environment. Since Exotics are all "custom built" weapons for a specific fantasy, sometimes they just don't do anything in some environments.

  • This is obviously PvP related, right? Personally I think it's balanced. Stat wise it doesn't suck. Too many other handcannons are overtuned.

  • Basically every Exotic loses out on stats to T5 legendaries

  • Poisoning with thorn is almost gimmicky, in pvp they have to be pretty weak to die from it. And the perk after a kill requires running to the perk, which is tough in the hold-hand teamshootfest that is quickplay. Its not like Ace where you just get the perk on reload. That being said the handling on thorn is high, but it does need some love to make it more competitive

  • I'd say at the bare minimum just buff all exotics to match T5 stats. I mean what is it going to break that isn't already being broken more easily by like 12 other weapons in each category? And with the resilience changes, they indirectly nerfed several weapons, Thorn included losing the 2c1 body it had at base and buffed 2 taps they openly advertised on it's return. As it stands, the poison is just a delayed Precision Instrument which doesn't really help 140s, and buffed a slower Kill Clip since you still need 2c1b but there's still a long enough delay that 3 crits would've been faster. Revert the catalyst stat nerfs definitely, but I'd say it deserves more than that since it doesn't really serve any purpose at this point unless combined with Necrotic Grips. A weapon like Hawkmoon or Malfeasance would be better against anything in PvE that would survive long enough to get 5 stacks of poison, and pvp has essentially lost all it's value because of the aforementioned nerfs.

My idea would be to give it back the damage over time poison, but the poison only takes effect on head shots, and ramps up like precision instrument, with a three stack maximum, with a timer, so the ramped up damage goes away a second or two after your last crit shot. First hit gives maybe 3 ticks of 3 damage, second gives 4 ticks of 5 damage, 5 ticks of 7 damage. Each "tick" is 0.25 seconds apart. So if you get hit and run, you're not out of the fight for so long, like, wasn't it 14 seconds back in the day? You won't be able to "2 crit and walk away" kill anyone, unless you have a weapon stat of 110 or higher, and you have to get that first kill with all 3 crits and then the next two shots have to be crits on your next target. So the second target, you could "2 crits and walk away", so long as you hit them within the time limit of extra damage availability. Then give it about 7 more base range.

        • It feels like the majority of exotic weapons have now been superseded by the newer tier 5 legendary ones, they sit in our vaults gathering dust, it's a real shame. 😥

Thank you to whoever contributes to the conversation here. With the Destiny news being in our favourite, I think it’s best we voice our concerns about the meta so we can make proper changes to the gameplay moving forward. It seems that the game itself has progressed but the loot we love has been left in the past for too long. Bring back our exotics in pure bungie fashion we been waiting🫡🫡 PLEASE KEEP DISCUSSION RESPECTFUL HEAR THE OTHER PERSON OUT AND TRY TO UNDERSTAND, WE ARE NOT NEANDERTHALS
