Blocking net limit idea while bringin back vaulted content

Is there a way to send feedback directly to the development team? If so, I’d like to share a few ideas regarding network manipulation and net limiting in PvE. I’ve been running into this issue far too often lately, and I think there may be some ways to make it more difficult to abuse network manipulation. 1. Add a cooldown when switching weapons or loadouts If there were a short cooldown or restriction on weapon/loadout swapping during certain situations, it might make it harder to abuse network manipulation without causing legitimate players to desync. The goal would be to reduce the situations where players can take advantage of connection manipulation while still keeping the gameplay responsive. 2. Detect abnormal network behavior on the client Since some forms of network manipulation involve intentionally blocking or interfering with specific network traffic, could the game detect these abnormal conditions from the client side? For example, if a player repeatedly blocks certain network traffic, drastically reduces their bandwidth, or creates unusual packet-loss/latency patterns during PvE, the game could detect the behavior and either disconnect the player or flag the match/account for further investigation. I understand that network issues can also happen naturally, so obviously this would need to be designed carefully to avoid punishing players with legitimate connection problems. 3. Detect known patterns associated with net limiting The weapons and gameplay situations affected by net limiting are often fairly consistent. If there are specific weapons, abilities, or gameplay interactions that are repeatedly being exploited through network manipulation, perhaps additional server-side checks could be applied to those situations. I’m not saying there is a simple one-line solution, but it seems strange that Destiny 2 already has a kernel-level anti-cheat system while network manipulation can still be abused in PvE. I really enjoy Destiny 2, but encountering players abusing these techniques has become extremely frustrating. I hope the team can continue looking into better detection and prevention methods rather than leaving legitimate players to deal with it. Thanks for reading, and hopefully some of these ideas are useful.

  • Hey there, there is no way to send it directly - but you should use the #feedbackd2 tag not #help, to have a chance of being seen by someone in that area.
