Look I know many of you are going to say, "Be happy!". I'm not and I feel I have valid reasons.
1. D2 is still dead. If you want this to work counter Tassi's article and say it isn't. Otherwise unvaulting content a year from now with possibly no tiered loot will be 100% pointless. Zero veterans will play it. New players won't play it. There's no reason to sink hours into a game that isn't getting new content. Also, you won't have the goodwill you'd have if say FOTL or the Dawning or ANYTHING dropped on D2 in the next month or two.
2. D2 players aren't going to play Marathon. Especially in October when new content for another game is dropping. In December you're competing with the big one. If Destiny is reliant on Marathon's success then we are screwed.
3. No roadmap. Need that ASAP. Again, you can't hype everyone up by saying Destiny is not done and then have PAUL TASSI, not you, tell us that D2 isn't getting revived. Why wasn't that mentioned on the vidoc? We are already back to not getting the full picture and finding out information second hand. Everyone was excited because we thought our game wasn't dead.
Sorry everyone -blam!- this and gets mad. The vidoc is starting to feel like an attempt by SONY to quiet the noise. That unvaulting probably isn't coming any time soon or at all if dependent on Marathon sales. If they are considering making a new Destiny game that won't be for at least 3-4 years. SO many new games between now and then. I want you to succeed but that is dependent on starting live service again on D2. Without that all this will be for naught.
I am thankful for everyone there fighting for this game. This game has meant the world to me. But as one of the people who still plays this game nearly every day, this is not enough.

As someone who has played from the beginning of d1 early access and launch, d2 launch and on and off over the years. I will play these campaigns and raids when they drop. The game isn't dead, and this good faith act will encourage players to jump in, and that will in turn encourage bungie and Sony to pursue more destiny. Calling it dead and complaining that giving us back what's ours will only hurt the audience and sour the management who are actually trying to turn this situation around. Call it dead or not enough if you want, but as a long time player, fan at times and hater at times, I'm excited as -blam!-. And you don't speak for all vets or players🤘
There's no reason to sink hours into a game that isn't getting new content.
Hahahha , what ?? 😂😂😂 Either you like that certain game or find something else that you like . No-one is playing games cause they are getting updates . Only streamers do that cause promoting new content for a week or 2 and then leave it to rot is their job . Real gamers just play whatever they like cause it is fun to play . No need be so serious for over a freakin game man , chill out ..

This is problem with some of the ‘community’. Unrealistic and entitled

4 RepliesDidn’t even have to read past “tiered loot” to realize your opinion doesn’t matter.

1 ReplyThere's always one, doesn't matter what Bungo do, it's never ever enough for some. Give it a rest and be thankful, it's a step in the right direction.

2 RepliesYour very first point is wrong

2 RepliesSo, a few things. First off they have no live team - so that's why there's no seasonal events or new content. Second, they have no dev team, so that's why they are limited to whats there. Third, they aren't going to release this old content without tiered loot. No sense bringing back old content unless it's truly up to date. Be happy that anything is being done. Because it's free and it's made by a bare bones studio. Which is probably why there's no roadmap. This is the best possible situation for a team that has basically shut down completely.
-
1 ReplyThey just made the decision to bring back vaulted content and you’re demanding a road map ASAP? My goodness, at least be a little bit realistic.
-
6 RepliesThe last thing I want for Destiny 2 is a return to the live service model, at least as we know it. Just chunks of quality content. And some damn crucible maps. Charge for everything.

Not reading that essay just delete the game

Bungie has a dead game on their hands but it isnt Destiny 2. 🤣

1: Destiny 2 isn't dead. It's absurd to say otherwise. Tens of thousands of people are playing it. Unvaulting content fixes the new player experience and will inevitably make new people want to play it. Updated loot pools will make veterans want to play it too. I would play it again for fun. Bungie will make more profit off a healthy, complete game. Unvaulting is the beginning, not the goal. Bungie is a company. They're doing this because they intend to sell things in the future and this goodwill will maximize how much they can sell. Will it be successful? We don't know, but I'm exited to find out. Until then, this drives up microtransactions that Bungie desperately needs. 2: No one is playing Marathon. Yep, that's why Bungie is returning to Destiny 2. D2 has never been reliant on Marathon's success. I think that was said by an employee desperate for Marathon support, and proved false. 3: There is a roadmap. It is literally the original roadmap for Destiny 2. We know what it is and the order we will get it in. What we don't know is the When, which is fine since this is literally just the initial announcement. We aren't getting a play-by-play the instant Bungie decides on a direction to go in. Also, Paull Tassi is a nobody that makes slop for view money on (Idk the website). Anything he says carries no gravity. I doubt Bungie would pretend to legitimize that loser with a response.

5 RepliesPaul Tassi isnt a reputable source. He gets paid per click by Forbes. Dude is a fraud

Edited by Xavion Rey: 9/25/2026 4:19:36 AMBro why be such a “Daren Downer”, how about just playing because the game is fun?! I don’t even care about the loot anymore. From all the builds and armor sets, my vault is stuffed full, so loot is no longer a priority. I just enjoy making builds, then going into activities to see how well they work. This level of straightforward buildcrafting is hard to match in any other game outside of Destiny 2. The gunplay + space magic is like no other! So just play and enjoy the fact that we still can, or like so many others have said “delete it”. No reason to rain on everyone’s parade.

It's ok to feel that way. It's also cool to be excited by it.

My problem is none of the stuff that's confirmed to be coming back has long staying power. While the Campaigns coming back are good for new players and a lot of Vets seem excited to replay some of those missions, be honest. You're going to go through them once or twice and then never touch them again. As for Destinations, unless they will also get the Distortion treatment that other locations have, people are going to get really bored really fast over outdated Public Events. That just leaves the returning Raids, which as people love to point out, apparently only a small minority of the Community actually engage with. They're the only thing we're getting with any replay value, and even then they're just going to fall victim to every other Raid. Once people have what they want, no one is going to touch them again. And given how shallow the Vaulted Raids' Loot Pools are won't take long. I'm happy to see this stuff come back, but let's be real. None of this is going to guarantee Destiny's future. It's just some older content that's meant to tide us over for a few weeks. That's it. It doesn't mean that we're "so back" until we get something actually new.
-
I'd be surprised if the Red War weapons weren't tiered. They're already making it effectively from scratch.

Could’ve avoided all of this if they never Nerfed Khepris Horn

6 RepliesUnvaulting content for free to then drop Destiny again makes no sense. Ditto doing it to “quiet the noise” or get people to play Marathon. The only way it makes sense to me is as a stepping stone to future Destiny content (whether that’s in D2 or a new game). It’s an investment from Bungie/Sony to start to win back players and send a clear message they intend to do things differently. I’m confident there’s more Destiny coming and I believe that was always the plan. I’m happy with the announcement, but I’ll wait to see exactly what the future holds. At the very least, it’s going to be fun to revisit some old campaigns and locations.
-
They are absolutely bringing Destiny back and creating new content. They have to, this is a desperation move, the studio has no other viable path for revenue. Marathon tanked. They made the announcement now because they made the decision but will take some time. Unvaulted content will be available to all players (no charge) which is the right thing to do. They'll be working on new content as fast as they can to get revenue through the door. It's always about money in the end, always.
-
4 RepliesBrother, you need to chill. If you honestly believe they are bringing back all this content only to then kill it all off again, then I got some ocean front property in Arizona I’d like to sell to ya. My theory is they are going to bring back this content within the year. Bits at time, we won’t see one big drop and honestly that would make more sense and lessen the stress on the developers. If previous reporting is correct and they were close to finishing up Shattered Cycle, I could see them finishing it up, and dropping it and the first batch of vaulted content at the same time. While doing all this, they have a small team start on D3 or new content for D2. The roadmap needs to go away, that’ll just lead to stress on the developers and cause players to get upset if a goal on the roadmap isn’t met. Plus they have stated they are working on finding a new way to communicate with us. Personally I hope they just update us when they can, even if it means no real update at the time. I get everyone who is pessimistic, but this is still early in the process. Gotta let it play out more before we go all crazy.

2 RepliesPaul Tassi is a whiny little -blam!- who is patient zero for the Perpetually Dissatisfied Destiny Player. He is easily next to Salt as the biggest complainer out there, so I don't give a -blam!- what he has to say and no one else should either.
