Cause I didn’t see a mention of it being free for people who already paid for it. Taking a chapter right out of Bethesdas playbook.
They are doing nothing to further the franchise, just a shameless money grab cause they fumbled Destiny and marathon.

1 ReplyEdited by Golden: 10/1/2026 6:21:16 PMPretty sure it’s all free for everyone. It was free for everyone before they vaulted it anyways lol

Paul Tassi posted an article that it’s free for everyone. Whether you bought it or not. It was made free before it was vaulted. So all free.
-
Meanwhile the sunrise team has brought back vaulted content and included dual wielding weapons.

Edited by PK_Haseo: 9/29/2026 5:22:51 PMThe word “Available” to all players, vaulted content. Not sure about seasonal content.

15 RepliesThis is false. They arent re-selling anything

3 RepliesI mean… it’s very obvious that it’s going to be free, even if it wasn’t mentioned. One, the content was already owned by a significant portion of the population, even if the majority of players nowadays hadn’t purchased it (myself included.) Two, the content had already been made free in the past, during the Shadowkeep Era of the game. Why would they go from payed content to free content back to payed content? Especially if the content is only Reprised, and not a Remaster of D2 in its entirety. Three, Bungie has talked about earning Player Trust once again. Bungie is not Bethesda or Activision or any number of these other companies. Yes, they are money grubbing, but why would they talk about earning player trust once again only to pull the rug out from under us and make content that had already been payed for, made free, and the sunset, payed for once again. If you honestly can’t logic this out, you’re either way too jaded, or you’re just as much a pessimist as Herm is a crackpot. (Sorry Herm, it was right there, had to take it)

You again? With another negative post.. not surprising just delete the game buddy I’m not ready that whole essay you wrote.
-
It's free for everyone. And it wouldn't be reselling as you'd be buying a new license to access it.
-
25 RepliesFella, it’s going to be an update to the game, not a micro-transaction. Also, they’re putting Destiny back into development which is why Bungie has a new leadership team. Stop being so damn negative, it’s annoying. People like you whine and cry when the game stops development, talking about “we want it back” and then the first thing you do is complain once they do exactly that. Get a grip.

1 ReplyPer an article posted by Paul Tassi earlier today:
The Destiny 2 content unvaulting is free for everyone. Obviously, players who already bought the unvaulted content won’t be charged twice, but other players who hadn’t bought any of this previously are not going to be charged either. And you may recall that almost all of this unvaulted content was made free-to-play for a year or less before unvaulting cut it entirely. But yes, it’s all free.
He doesn’t cite any specific sources or include quotes from Bungie employees as backup, so take it for what it’s worth. It’s free

It will be free... it will probably crash the game with an infinite amount of bugs, but it will be free. Let me tell you why, from a business perspective. Corporations are driven by ROi, not by "doing the right thing". Bungie is not doing this from the goodness of their heart... they're doing this cuz people are literally begging to throw money at them. I'm talking about the petition to make a D3... people saying they'd buy Marathon if Bungie makes D3... and the recent gaming conference where the new games being announced were eclipsed by Destiny fanatics spamming the chat with "we want D3!" Every other company/studio is thinking Bungie/Sony are idiots for ending Destiny when so many people are still highly addicted & willing to PAY for more... but there's so many people who also said they would NEVER buy D3 because of what Bungie did vaulting previous content. So as a company, why would Bungie invest a MASSIVE amount of money in an entirely new team, new story writers, new maps, activities, loot, everything involved in making a new game (D3) knowing that so many people have already decided to boycott it... when instead, they could invest the absolute minimum to just whip out old content that they already have sitting in vault, present it as "making things right" for free, and regain the trust of all the people still holding grudges. When all is forgiven, they can work on D3 with a good reputation as having done the right thing.

Nice L take, good job

A Dangerous SavOMG can’t believe I made it far - old
As far as I’m aware, this is going to be an update similar to MoT only much larger where everything they’re adding back should be free to play for every guardian. -
Edited by SmudgeOnTheLenz: 9/23/2026 3:38:10 PMThis is the original post As we shared in the video, we are beginning the work of bringing vaulted Destiny 2 campaigns, destinations, and raids back into the game, where they will be available to ALL Destiny 2 players. They should have added the word free, but it has been clarified that the update will be free.
