Problems with optimization in Steam (FPS drop) (Оптимизация в Steam).
When will the issue with the game’s optimization in Steam be fixed?
Valve employees claim that this is due to a conflict between the anti‑cheat in Destiny 2 and the Steam overlay.
They also claim that a notification about this was sent to Bungie, but the developers are silent.
Can Bangji give an answer?

Well maybe it will get fixed now because Bungie announced that Destiny 2 will continue. When this FPS loss started to happend I switched to Epic, Cross save enabled all my char, gears and progerss moved and all i needed was to buy that Destiny collection to get all the licenses again for 24 euros so no big deal. My game runs way better with Epic, even better than steam before this issuea. Its really really smooth, like night and day. Try it!

On Valves end, the Beta client has somewhat of a 'fix' in place although some people have said it didn't work for them. For now, there is a workaround that works for people [quote]Restart Steam if you have already launched a game. The files you need to delete may be locked if you've already launched a game. Open your Steam directory in Windows Explorer. It'll usually be: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam Delete or move all of the files in that base directory that have the word "overlay" in the title. For me they are: GameOverlayRenderer.dll, GameOverlayRenderer64.dll, gameoverlayui64.exe, SteamOverlayVulkanLayer.dll, SteamOverlayVulkanLayer.json, SteamOverlayVulkanLayer64.dll, SteamOverlayVulkanLayer64.json. You can move them if you want to be safe, but in my experience Steam will recreate these files the next time you restart Steam. DO NOT RESTART STEAM NOW, HOWEVER. You want to leave steam open with the files deleted.[/quote] After the above and the files are moved/deleted, launch Destiny 2 without restarting Steam.
