Hello Bungie and Community. I want to bring attention to the linux community who aren't able to play Destiny 2 due to the anti-cheat configuration. [b]Battle-Eye currently blocks any attempts to play from a Linux system [/b]through compatibility layers or via Virtual Machine, locking us out from playing this game. I used to play Destiny 2 for a long time, from release up until Witch Queen. I played on PS4, but then moved to PC running on Linux Mint. I was eager to play on better hardware but then found that I was unable to due to the anti-cheat. That said, [b]there's many other players who run Linux who also want to be able to play, but can't.[/b] With the recent success of Valve's new consoles running on [i]SteamOS[/i], I believe it would be a brilliant idea for Bungie to allow Linux native players access to playing the game [i]via tools like Proton or Wine.[/i] This shouldn't take much overhead cost, from my understanding, [u][b]just adjustment to the anti-cheat. No need to create a native port or anything.[/b][/u] [b]The benefit to Bungie [/b]in this move would be a higher influx of players who are now playing exclusively on Linux machines, [u]increasing player count and DLC purchases[/u] whilst also gaining [u]good reputation with the community[/u] overall. [b]The benefit for the community[/b] by allowing Linux players would be a larger community being formed, leading to faster queue-times and a more active playerbase of both returning players, and new players. Plus it'd be awesome to be able to play Destiny from a Steam Deck. I've seen other posts inquiring about Linux support, both in "Destiny 2" and "Help - Destiny 2" topics, that alongside the recent decision to revive Destiny 2, I believe this would be a [i]low-risk high-reward [/i]move for the community that Bungie could do to improve the game. [b]And for the community[/b], I want to see your thoughts on what you think on this. There's a large amount of people who want to play this one-of-a-kind experience but are unable to due to the Anti-Cheat configuration, and I would love to see [b][u]support from both other Linux users as well as the community at large[/u][/b]. With enough support for a movement, I would like to believe that Bungie will see the value in allowing Linux users to join in on the game. Thank you for taking the time to read.
