Bungie now its time to bring back the PC client to it's former glory
I think everyone heard the news today. So Bungie I can speak for the whole PC community. Bring the PC client to it's performance before Edge of Fate.
Right now the Steam client is having serious problems, major stutter. But like I said it's only the steam Client. Windows Store and Epic Store are not affected.
But still those clients have problems with microstutter with a lot of players (not all of them). We have tons of threads about it right after the launch of Edge of Fate. It is related to the fact that you removed exclusive fullscreen. Bring back that mode or switch to Direct X 12.
So I ask you a 5th or so. Give the PC client more love. Now that Destiny is back, we need the PC performance back in it's former state. Please give us PC players some love. Thank you!

Their new overlay stuff gets flagged as a potential cheat mechanism by D2's anticheat service and goes under the microscope while you are playing to see if it is really a cheating mechanism or not. That extra work causes performance issues. The other side of the bug is that the Steam client doesn't really disable its own overlay system if you try to disable it in the Steam app settings. The current workaround is to rename or delete the 8 or so files listed below in the Steam folder in Program Files (86) every time you reopen Steam and every time that Steam updates itself RIGHT BEFORE you open D2. You have to do it every time because Steam will re-download these files if it can't find them. Location: c:\Program Files (86)\Steam ``` GameOverlayRenderer.dll GameOverlayRenderer64.dll gameoverlayui.exe gameoverlayui64.exe SteamOverlayVulkanLayer.dll SteamOverlayVulkanLayer.json SteamOverlayVulkanLayer64.dll SteamOverlayVulkanLayer64.json ``` I have created a `bat` file on my desktop to do the above deletion, and run it with the "Run As Administrator" thing every time right before I start D2. If you want to create such a bat file, just ask a free AI chat tool like copilot.microsoft.com or chatgpt to help you create one using the above info. By the way, there are some "apps" out there that say you can download them and they would fix the performance issues, I WOULD NOT USE THEM, because it is hard to figure out if the random "fix" apps are legit or if they are packed with malwares or other other malicious code that may compromise your system.

I got somewhat good news for you. Valve is working on a fix and there's a beta version of Steam that includes the fix for the issue.
