Unvaulting - Please bring back the RPG elements! Use that chance!

With the announcement today, I also hope Bungie is keeping an eye on the online discourse and will consider feedback from players alongside the way. I think Destiny 2 lost a lot of its defining RPG elements over the years in the pursuit of convenience. So, here a small list of things I hope Bungie considers to bring back: - Planetary Materials and requirement of these for Upgrades Reason: It encourages playing Patrol modes and causes players to play naturally together and bond. Alongside that it populates Patrol areas regularly AND gives you a reason to play them. - Reworking power progression (Gear, Power and World Scaling) Reason: Give players who want a bigger challenge an optional mode to play (optionally with slightly better drop chances for materials) - Other games are pursuing this as well, especially Blizzard with confirming a Heroic World Tier for WoW The Last Titan, WoW: Forever (Classic+) and Elder Scrolls Online with the World Tier difficulties (and its gold/xp bonuses for playing those). Also, use the opportunity to fix the screwed over Loot distribution. Make Legendaries and Exotics a bit more rare again, bring back blues for max level characters and make recycling blue items worthwhile. Edit: Also consider making Green and Blue weapons from Red War and other expansions UPGRADABLE to legendary tier, allowing you to use them not only in the endgame but to keep your "I went through hell with this gun" moments. I am sure you can figure out a system to solve the 2-weapon perk issue (as many blue and green weapons don't have multiple perks). Otherwise, you can always make Banshee-44 a weapon smith again (and re-introducing re-rolling for Perks like back in House of Wolves D1) - Rework the Cosmodrome starting scenario into its own "player tutorial". Then tie it into the Red War campaign. Narratively the Cosmodrome campaign SHOULD happen BEFORE Red War in the timeline. Reason: Simply because it will flow better. Having a new player take the first few steps in the Cosmodrome, doing a proper tutorial structure of game basics AND THEN have them go into Red War, loosing their Light (although having it re-tooled to be fully reclaimed after finding the Traveler shard) will hit narratively A LOT better with new players. Especially they had first a bit of time to breathe in the world of Destiny. - Re-introduce manual engram decryption for item drops from enemies (not counting chest loot) and allow these engrams to be vaulted Reason: Allows to transfer these engrams to other classes in case of armor for easier gearing, also adds back the "surprise factor" and "regular tower visits" after missions. While auto-decryption is useful, it removed the fun and anticipation factor from getting an engram drop as well. It is like getting a birthday present right now, without the wrap around it. - Re-introduce weapon visors being changeable, not as a fixed weapon roll on specific weapons. But as a mod system. Let people pick their favorites! Reason: Some weapons look for personal taste much better with certain scopes. For example, I prefer the Shadow Price with the Red Dot OAS visor, not Iron Sights. Same for Fusion Rifles with D1 frames (like Riptide). I am sure other players also want to have rather certain thermal sights on certain weapons they use in PvP. - Make Shoulder Charges in PvP either OHK again OR give all of them a stagger/CC effect for Titans. Reason: If you don't use Peregrine Greaves, this melee is next to useless in PvP. Also, given that Warlocks are cooldown masters and Hunters are precision/movement beats, let Titans be again the Melee kings they are meant to be. Also that is a RPG aspect. Class identity. And if the balancing really is an issue in PvP, find a way to code that ability differently for PvP modes to consume the melee charge fully when using, regardless of hitting an enemy. Personally I rather have a one chance to get a secured kill than having multiple chances not getting one at all. To the other players reading this! Feel free to share your own ideas BELOW in the comments! Let the devs know what you want back or added!

These were all badly implemented systems that need to stay gone. Caps on accumulation was the worst of it. Absolutely no reason for it Instead of materials how about some actual planetary specific guns and armor? Like they just gave us?

    • Planetary items were fun to collect and, as you say, gave reason to play all areas of the map. As someone who wouldn’t claim to be any good and as an exclusively solo PVE player, I’d appreciate planetary items becoming an alternative way of genuinely progressing.
