I think nowadays since there is no more support the cheaters have nobody stopping them anymore.
Just had two players in Trials somehow managed to be on opposite sides all the time. Then let everyone kill eachother then started farming players that were dead.
I just had to leave twice giving me a ban for 30 minutes.
So they not only are cheating and being annoying but they also cause bans for innocent players.
I recorded both games and I would love to just reveal their gamer tags here but somehow we all still need to protect these sad people.
I did report then in game. To Bungie/Sony I would look up my games around 10 in the morning in the Neterlands on Sat the 15th of August. And get these 2 banned for ever.

It is making crucible unbearable to play which is really unfortunate because I've actually enjoyed it for the most part the last few years, besides maybe the last one. I don't think it would be as horrible if Bungie didn't completely get rid of the progression in the game. Trials requires you to be at 300 power to enter, and conveniently when you make a new account, everything immediately drops at 300 power. With the reduced prices of all the expansions as well, cheaters can make a new account, purchase Renegades for $20, and immediately go back to cheating in Trials and whatever else they want to. There's no friction for them anymore, and it doesn't seem like there are any bans getting handed out anymore either which makes them not afraid to go wild with the cheats. I've even come across people who have had accounts since Destiny 1 that have now started cheating on their main account since they know they probably won't get banned.

Back in March when the 'Game who's name you cannot mention' launched there was a debate in my clan about buying it & trying it out. FYI There was none of this ridiculous rage baiting & fake hate that was filling the feeds with click slop. Many points, valid pro's & con's were debated. But it mostly came down to a single theme which swayed the majority away from getting Marathon: If Bungie cannot control the ridiculous level of cheating that has always been present in the D2 crucible... what was it going to be like in a game which was entirely PvP?? Anywho... a few of us went ahead & played season 1 (but then quit) because it was bad from day 1. I guess my point here is that even on physical servers with live moderation they can't stop it. So an unmoderated peer to peer server game has no chance of stopping it.

In the last two months, I've seen more cheaters than in eight years. Bungie never has done, doesn't do, and never will do anything for PvP. They've always been a bunch of pathetic, washed-up programmers who couldn't care less for the goose that laid the golden eggs. So, if you can't beat them, join them, and let's all become cheaters—it's a free-for-all.
Likely they will not but hey! Better than doing nothing at all, right?
Sure I love playing against opponents who can hot every headshot and never miss. Who doesn't love playing against players that can snipe through flinch? I saw a video on Facebook where someone summoned screebs with a machine gun. I mean.... c'mon.... who's keeping the lights on?

The res farming thing is annoying. I've matched a couple of those ppl. Gotta say, I can't think of anything scummier. They are waiting 1 minute for 1 kill... Why? For a higher K/D? To inflate stats that no one cares about? To make people rage? Utterly absurd. It might sound dramatic, but I don't think we need these kinds of people in society.

Bungie has never had anything in place to ban cheaters, as much as they tried to make people believe that they did.

1 ReplyYeah I’m not sure why Bungie chooses to destroy all good will like this. Ban the honest player and do zip about cheaters. I mean it’s 2016 there’s got to be a modern way of recognizing and removing a cheater without having to jump through hoops to report them. Cheat monitoring should be a studio prerogative to protect the integrity of their game!

2 RepliesEdited by Bobson Dugnutt: 8/16/2026 4:24:00 PMEvery time I think someone is cheating I remember the time someone slid under my barricade to shotgun me and I headshotted him with a sniper from 1 yard while he was mid slide the instant he came through the barrier. I imagine what he must have been thinking when I did that. For more context I couldn’t hit someone afk with a sniper if I had 5 minutes to line up the shot.

1 ReplyYeah it's crazy overwhelming man it's frustrating because I guess there's no one here monitoring the cheaters. But they have the audacity to ban you for leaving a cheating game. Anyways I think there was a Discord where they're just discussing the name of the plans are members who might be suspected cheating. I'm not sure. Obviously no one can do that on Destiny forms.
