Final Mission Proposal for Destiny 2 -

Hello Bungie Narrative Team, My name is Gabriel, and I’ve been a Destiny player since the very first game. Like so many others, I’ve followed this story for over a decade. With Destiny 2 coming to a close, I’d like to share an idea for a final mission that feels worthy of everything this journey has carried. The proposal is called “Three Lights.” It uses something only Destiny has: the three character slots. Concept Each of the three Guardians the player has created over the years is treated as a real, distinct person — each with their own Ghost. They are not the same being in different bodies. They are three separate lives that, at different times, carried the same burden. The final mission would be structured in three acts, forcing the player to experience the death of each of them in sequence. Act 1 The player controls the first Guardian. During a decisive attack on the Last City (possibly led by Dredgen Bael, whose visions of “the Guardian” have already been established in the lore), this character falls. Their Ghost tries to revive them… and fails. The screen fades to black. The player is then automatically transferred to the second character, with the exact inventory and loadout that was equipped on that slot. Act 2 The second Guardian arrives and finds the body of the first. There is no time to grieve. The threat is still active. They fight, they resist, and they too are defeated. Their Ghost cries out. Fails. The screen fades again. The player takes control of the third and final character. Act 3 The last Guardian arrives. Two bodies. Two silent Ghosts. Bael believes he has finally won. But the third Guardian understands that the only way to protect humanity is a deliberate sacrifice. In a final act, they throw themselves against the threat, neutralizing Bael (or whatever remains of VI’s influence), and die in the process. Their Ghost tries one last time… and also fails. Epilogue Years later. Saint-14, older now, stands before three graves. He does not know that we have already heard these words in the past. For him, this is the first time he speaks them. He begins, his voice heavy with respect and exhaustion: “Thank you for coming. We’ve gathered here today to celebrate the lives of my mentors… my inspirations. They had a hundred titles I cannot recall. And they died doing what they did best: defending the Last City of humanity. Ages ago, one of them saved my life. And then inspired me to save myself. I am glad that they did. Because, Traveler help us… they are gone. And there is no one left to save us now. On the day we met, I decided I would follow their example. I’m still trying. I’ve marked these graves with the weapons they loved, shattered in that final confrontation. All who find what we’ve left here — please leave it be. Unless… unless you’re still out there somewhere. You’ve performed miracles before. In which case, take them. And come back to us. And we’ll kill what killed you. Or die trying.” The camera slowly pulls away. Later, in the Last City, near the statue of Cayde-6, a new statue stands. Three figures side by side. No detailed faces. Just the silhouettes of three Guardians. On the base, a simple inscription: They were many. They were one. They were enough. This idea grew from threads the lore has already left open: the empty grave Bael sees in his visions, Saint-14’s speech in the Corridors of Time, and the fact that every player has always had three different lives carrying the title of “Young Wolf.” I believe this would be an honest, painful, and beautiful way to end the story. Not a clean victory — but a meaningful one. Thank you for all these years. Thank you for letting us be the Guardian. With respect and gratitude, Gabriel Felipe Gabrielfelipe0"gamertag" [spoiler]Moderator edit: This thread has been updated with tags that are more appropriate. • Very well-written, good job! This is the first idea I’ve seen on the forums that I can say; I would play this DLC/Story without question. You should get into game development, you have the creativity for it!

        • God… this is so good! Anyone who complains needs to get their priorities straight. Let people be creative! I would play this in a heartbeat. Perfect ending, going against the classic happy ending structure really fits this game. Seriously amazing. Good job!

          • Amazing ending! Unfortunately you're dealing with people who still have their OG white armor from year 1 vanilla, they aren't the "wrap things up" crowd lol.

            • I appreciate the creativity, but no thanks. Having my 3 characters die & be unresponsive to their ghosts, sounds like the mission is just deleting my 3 characters... and then what ? Am I never able to play the game again cuz my 3 characters are all dead ? I'm not really interested in that.

                • There is no bungie narrative team. All gone. Over. Stop asking for things. It’s done. Finished.
