Sunshot Catalyst won't drop for me
I just don't understand the parameters for acquiring the Sunshot Catalyst I guess.
I was there when Sunshot was new. I was there when the catalyst was new. I'm here now feeling like I've done everything under the Sun possible to acquire the catalyst but its not happening for me.
It definitely doesn't seem to drop from exotic orders. At some points, the only catalyst that could possibly drop is the Sunshot's, and I'll get exotic armor pieces instead. I'll go pick up a new (to me) exotic weapon from the kiosk, and nearly instantly get its catalyst or with reasonable effort, at least. I've pulled another Sunshot out of collections, with its 3 ornaments, just to remind the game I do have it.
But this Sunshot catalyst? Where is it? :D

Sunshot's catalyst is a (very) rare drop, something it shares with Sweet Business and Graviton Lance, the three former Faction Rally catalysts. It took me years to get those. It is expected that the catalysts for more recent weapons are dropping more readily. That's surprising that it doesn't drop from exotic orders though. It is in Xur's inventory so keep an eye out on the catalysts he offers each week.

10 RepliesFinish off a good deal of your obtained catalysts that you haven’t completed yet. That will help. It’s been a (cough cough) feature for a while now that having too many unfinished ones can limit old ones from dropping.

Sunshot Catalyst was introduced with Faction Rallies and would've been easily obtainable if you chose the correct faction. Once they were moved to strikes with the other two faction rally catalysts (Sweet Business and Graviton Lance) they were, and still are, extremely low drop chances. It won't drop from exotic orders.
