Maybe I’m just having bad luck, but IB is basically unplayable. I’ve been away for a while, so I don’t know if this is just the normal state of PvP, but it’s the laggiest game I’ve ever played. I doubt it’s everyone cheating, but the state of the connection sure makes it look like it. Is this just what destiny PvP is in 2026?

2 RepliesI haven't had any lag in matches, the hunters one shotting, yah that happens but if that's what they have to do to pretend they're good players so be it. The only issue i've run into is that after every other match or so if i don't depart, it'll leave me in limbo on the screen like i'm headed to a match....but instead my ship just floats in space forever and i have to restart the game. I hope that whoever is left at Bungie can fix a few bugs before leaving their post.

Just played for an armour set on my T…did Control and Eruption modes - both seemed ‘normal’ for IB. Some really good players evident, though there are a lot of SUS players, too. Haven’t encountered any flying giants or other blatant stuff…just the usual SUS stuff… I mentioned a certain 3-letter word that rhymes with ‘sin’ - and got a forum warning for it…the mind boggles?! 🧐 That is all. It’s laggy, but so far on PS5 I’ve had pretty balanced matches, 50/50 win loss.

2 RepliesIt's been the Lagging Banner since they implemented Crossplay.

Hunters one shooting players is also getting out of hand and ruining iron banner experience

I've had lag issues and thought the one shot was part of it. So there is something going on.... leave it to crutch hunters to find another crutch to show off. lol. But in all honesty it's just insane how bad PVP. I gave it a try and it's bad. Also the maps are bad, but that's a whole different can of worms. I still can't get the mark to drop..... but I've gotten a lot of Survivor's Epitaph.

I played a few IB matches on console this morning. My experience was normal. Won 2 out of 3, with pretty good connections throughout all matches. I didn’t notice anything egregious.

Punisher of Porcelain™Your toilet is no more - old
I’ve had only two laggy matches, one with insanely long freezes and one with teleporting titans. Otherwise, it’s been pretty fun for me besides the occasional mid-game drop ins on losing matches. -
This was the pvp experience that really sold people on Marathon.

The ever increasing lag, unbalanced matches, and cheaters aside, Iron Banner has been the kind of mode that ALWAYS brings out the hardcore cheaters and tryhards that play like they are. Honestly it's been to the point for years that if I see anything even remotely suspicious like someone who consistently outguns a last word with an SMG after I get the first 2 shots in, one guy earlier survived 2 shots to the head from a Long Arm, 5 shots from a Last Word, and 2 melees but somehow his sidearm won, or if I go barely positive in a match that I just report the whole team. It's gotten even worse over the past year if not longer what with all the people with sketchy af movement, strafing like they're always moving at full speed, crouch shooting with hand cannons and sidearms with perfect accuracy (this moves the gun to the side, elevates it to the point it blocks the sights, and negatively affects stability and recoil direction) or the constant slide shooting with perfect accuracy multiple times mid gunfight. Frequently enough that Bungie should've added like a 3 second cooldown to sliding at this point. Another guy somehow quick scoping while sliding and popping heads consistently with a sniper. Yeah no. I've been here since the D1 beta, I think I have a better idea of what is and isn't possible with what weapons/ abilities at what ranges and how various fights are supposed to go down. Especially with a controller. I'd say more than half the matches have at least one hacker, a banned performance enhancer of some kind which stupidly enough people can't name on here without getting a post removed, or they're using MnK on console which is a bannable offense anyway. Probably closer to 70-80% of matches in the case of iron banner.

StariBad Netcode - old
It's not only Iron Banner that's unplayable, it's the whole pvp. Destiny's netcode is heavily outdated and of course peer-to-peer problems. The better your internet and networking gear, the worse Destiny 2 pvp experience. -
1 ReplySometimes the lag works in your favour though. Sometimes it doesn't. If you turn into that guy from the matrix during a match it's probably working for you. I haven't found it to be any worse than usual.

I have a laggy match here and there, but it hasn't been too bad for me

Been okay so far..
