Your own stupid decisions got us to this point.
Your gross negligence when it comes to resource allocation got us here.
Your mind boggling mismanagement of your teams’ abilities got us here.
Your misdirection and convoluted mess of a story arc, forcing multiple re-boots got us here.
Your hubris and arrogance thinking you always knew best and to ignore your core audience got us here.
So no, this wasn’t due to Destiny “underperforming”.
This was due to team leads, managers, and executives who will walk away with millions of dollars after their shares are vested and none of this will personally or financially affect them.
It’s sickening what they’ve done to this incredible world and once in a generation IP. They should all be ashamed.
For the devs who just kept their heads down and worked tirelessly to meet impossible deadlines and ridiculous expectations, we feel for you. This isn’t on you.
This is on upper management and those at the top within both Bungie and Sony. And they truly suck.
If ending support for your flagship title to double down on Marathon doesn’t close the studio doors, idk what will.
Idiots.

6 RepliesOnly thing sony is guilty of is spending too much on bungie. This is all on bungie.

1 ReplyDumb execs thinking that Covid-level profits would just be the new normal… They over-extended and had to pull resources from D2, leading to weaker expansions and worse performance.

Edited by PK_Haseo: 6/26/2026 2:25:01 PMOdd announcement. The player count of June 2026 alone was the strongest than the past 3-5 months :/ if only if the players can keep this up just maybe a “Destiny 3” is possible (no rush).

I think the truth lies somewhere in between. It contains a little bit of everything from Bungie. There were also lead developers like Catarina Macedo and Joe Blackburn. They weren't bad at all. Well, Pete wasn't shy at all; he showed what he wanted... but this goes back to Luke and his "Throw your money at the screen" comment. And I think there were also core developers who worshipped them. At the end of the day, Destiny (2) was used. Maybe exploited. I have often said that here. It died like it lived: excessively. I was in it for 10 years. Thinking back, I shouldn't have done that, but that's the irony of hindsight. I don't want anything to do with Bungie, Marathon, or anything else from these guys anymore. That's it. This also goes for video games in general. Because there are better things out there than this "rock 'n' roll" style of game development...

3 RepliesActually that failed project Marathon did this, I'm so tired of pretending there's some sort of abstruct reason for what's happening or Sony management isn't completely trying to justify their worthless existence by keeping the less profitable title on life support in front of more worthless bigger Sony management, or it wasn't an obvious mistake on Sony's part to focus on the wrong ip

Well said. If we had this quality of life update when Edge of Fate released we'd likely be having a different conversation right now. The reset power level and regrind to 450 killed the game for me. Not to mention only gaining power in portal activities and only having 8-10 things to do at any given week...what ever in the traveler were they thinking. Obviously the train guy's fault.

10 RepliesSony is ditching Destiny as its flagship title and replaced it with Grand Theft Auto 6. I’ve never been a fan of any GTA title and this just made me migrate to PC Gaming exclusively. If you ever feel stupid, remember that Sony execs exist.

Game is cooked and anything the Bungie studio ever comes out with........i will never play. I havent and will not purchase Marathon. Bungie will go down as a company that only knows how to destroy games and not listen to their player base. The game messed up when they listened to streamers and not the community.

I blame on Sony. It let Pete get away from it. It create so much damages. Nothing I can do about it.

Pete’s car collection did it

Well said

6 RepliesThe two things aren't mutually exclusive though? Destiny did under perform massively in its last year.

I don't think team leads had much to say in this, it's the "white collars" who dictate.
-
1 ReplyI do not think Pete parsons reads these forums. He is out living the high life. Yelling at anyone now per bungie is just like yelling at the janitors after the party that are cleaning up the mess:

Greedy suits and attempting to start multiple incubation projects. That's what ultimately killed Destiny.

5 RepliesI hope herman hulst is removed from the gaming industry. The only thing he should manage is a weird german bdsm shop the weird little kraut -blam!-
