It may not have been perfect, but it was a shared world for millions of players across two games and multiple platforms.
To all the devs and members of the Bungie team, thank you for what you gave us with the Destiny franchise.
I've made friends through your world and had wonderful experiences doing dungeons, raids, and just entering public spaces where other players were working together towards a common goal (even now with distortions and public events, being able to revisit those spaces for a purpose other than to just wander around and wonder what could have been with them has been fun).
I have my own thoughts about who let us down, but for me, it wasn't the developers who worked tirelessly to bring us this story and experience. Nobody's going to love everything about something that has been created, and there are always going to be critics (who I would invite to go and create their own studio and "do it better" if you think you can.)
My son introduced me to Destiny on the PS3 right around the time The Taken King launched. I learned that I absolutely sucked at platforming; my regular group of raiders often had to wait 30+ minutes for me to get past the infamous "wall of dicks" in King's Fall. But we had fun nonetheless, and those friendships have lasted beyond playing Destiny together.
It is a shame that greed and poor leadership decisions have led us here. But to those who created the world, you have my thanks and appreciation for everything you have done.

I've made many more friends on Need For Speed Carbon in 6 months then on Destiny in 11 years. Totally other crowd, bad experience. -
