On top of that, every expansion seemed determined to focus on 2 things: 1) Player engagement (measured by time spent in game) 2) Eververse purchases (total $) And they did it in the worst way possible. The entire game (until now) has constantly used FOMO, very low drop rates, and capped rewards to drive up player time. On top of that, Eververs purchases became the #1 way to improve character esthetics instead of being a way to SUPPLEMENT in-game aesthetics. Yeah, Bungie should have focused on FUN instead of metrics (like they did here at the end), and I guarantee the game would have been more successful. Ironically, when all you care about is making money, you make a worse product. EDIT: And IDK how on earth they are going to turn Marathon around. Seems like a poor decision, but anything is possible.

What drives me f***ing mad about these layoffs is it’s always the littles guys paying the price for the morons making mistakes moving on with a big check. It’s insane how C-suits love to talk about accountability and engagement, but when the ship is sinking because they drove it straight into the iceberg, they are the first ones one the life boats, pushing everyone else at sea. What a messed up world we live in where messing up people live like these has became “business as usual”. Anyway, I truly wish the folks at Bungie to land on their feet quickly. I love the game and I love what you guys did over the years, you don’t deserve that.

The sad day was when they released The Final Shape. I’m sorry but everyone associated with that disaster never needs to touch another video game EVER. That lighting ball crap was a fireable offense. They also got kicks out of nerfing everything into the ground. Now they are nerfed. We paid money for a great experience and did not receive that.
