As much hate I bring to this game and how the current downfall was well deserves, I need to know…is it worth reinstalling with the last and final update.
I haven’t played in over a year.

Yes it is very much worth reinstalling

1 ReplyI talked big smack about bungie and the game itself ever since I left over a year ago, but when I saw all the updates I decided to reinstall and give it a shot. Glad I did. So much new stuff to do and grind for now. Bought the last two seasons cheap. The portal and navigation through that is trash but having fun again.

I’m having fun.

Game is in a really good state. Plenty to do, and lots of loot to chase. All playlists are fairly populated. If you want to play, there will never be a better time than right now.
-
Probably, as long as you go in with the mindset that A. It’s only event-sized, nothing mind blowing B. nothing you do now will have a follow up. The guns you collect don’t need to be hoarded in case of next season’s meta The titles you achieve will never increase in gilding rank. The builds you make won’t be better or worse later. Etc etc From now on everything remains exactly the same, still, preserved, and unchanging. (Essentially fighting the Witness was pointless because he got what he wanted) Other than that, there is a decent amount of loot to chase, plus there are a ton of exotic ornaments for bright dust. If you’re ok with that + a little cutscene, you’ll probably enjoy it.

11 RepliesI barely played since EoF released. Honestly, I’m enjoying the game just now. Slowly working towards the Immortal title.

2 RepliesAs someone who shits on Bungie constantly, yeah, download it, give yourself the closure for the final update.

Edited by AlteraLateralus: 6/23/2026 10:41:28 PMDefinitely worth it to see the conclusions to the characters and stories if you were a big fan before. Also, just to see the sheer potential. Imagine how amazing an expansion with a full campaign would have been with these quality of life changes, this massive weapons overhaul, and fan favorite features returning.

24 RepliesEdited by Ïşàáķ: 6/23/2026 9:33:26 PMNah. Raid community is full of toxic r3t@rds. Worst part is…. Most of them are too poo$$y to use a mic 😂

Yes. As someone who was/is very critical of Bungie and the game's direction post EoF, Destiny has finally moved towards the right direction and is a joy to play now. The game has toned down most of the blatant exploitation it has always suffered from and there are tons of things to do for FUN that actually give decent LOOT.

Cryen-7Once a Guardian, always a Guardian. - 6/24/2026 12:08:15 PM
In my opinion yes, because: - Loads of our most beloved weapons are back like Black Armory weapons - These weapons now support Tiering system, Crafted ones too. You can even upgrade low tiered weapons like T3, T4 to be T5. - Tower vendors now have purpose, you pick up stuff from Shaxx, Banshee etc - Director is back, so no more stupid portal - Distortions is great event with cool loot that circles every planet. That makes planets have a purpose. - We now have fun easier 6 player arena ops that drop good loot and is not so hard anymore with low revives - We got new abilities for every class and some are really good, some maybe not - You can change artifact like you want, so no more restricted for one per season and you can save artifact for saved loadout - + many more QoL updates I really like it and will just play because no more FOMO. You can now just play. -
definitely, you have loads of content to enjoy and no FOMO.

For sure. The campaigns are kind of bleh but the exotics are fun. The equilibrium dungeon is also awesome and one of my favorites so I'd almost recommend getting renegades just for that. Unless the times are different on other platforms, you did miss the $25 for everything bundle, so you might be paying full price.
-
Edited by SpunChii: 6/24/2026 11:09:13 AMNope.
-
Wait for the mega bundle to go back on sale for 20 or 25 bucks. But yes it is actually in the best state it's probably ever been right now. They literally fixed all the major issues on the way out the door. Go figure.
-
If you enjoyed the state of the game before EoF and aren't going to focus exclusively on PvP then, yeah, it is (in my opinion) worth reinstalling.

depends what you like and the attitude/perspective you will give it... I think yes.. amidst the complaints (thats to help it get better) ... its really a nice send off for D2 fans and I see me stickin around for a long while... on the perspective just go for what matters for you and enjoy it all.. you'll be guiding what you wanna chase -
Yeah you’ll have fun for sure. They buffed pve a lot

I got back in a week ago and I’ve stayed in since because the game is a lot of fun and is in a very good state right now. Ive run over a dozen raids and dungeons, nightfalls and distortion. The new gear system is great, playing any activity feels rewarding. Ive never not been upset to get armor from raid and dungeon encounters until now because of the tier system and the weapons are just as good. As a Titan main, I also feel like my class is evenly balanced with Hunters and Warlocks in end game content which is rare. Haven’t touched pvp
-
Yes. It is.
-
I'm having fun
-
Probably not, unless you like the same grind but improved so you can grind again on the same old content
-
1 ReplyI uninstalled it a while ago and I’m pretty happy nothing being in that hamster wheel anymore. Regardless of how people justify their extensive play times here, it’s just not healthy. I played Dark Souls Remastered and Elden Ring after uninstalling and with both of those games, my play times were a lot more sporadic and determined by whether I actually wanted to play or not. So yeah, different story.
-
I’d say get in and get your fun in now because the population will stay healthy now but will slowly trickle out since this is the final update so no telling how the game will be several months later. I’d say yes it’s worth reinstalling because the new armor and weapons create lots of build crafting opportunities.
