Hello! Very new here, so I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong spot! I played Destiny 1 back on Xbox when it was current, and never ended up playing Destiny 2. When D2 went on super sale on Steam, I decided to pick it up. I remember reading that there are some legacy items I could get from having played D1. I'm not sure if I'm, actually eligible for them, but I thought "hey worth a shot"! I've linked the Xbox and Steam accounts to my main Bungie account, and then set up cross save with Steam as the main account, since that's where I bought the game. I completed what I think is the tutorial (saw someone get obliterated by a hive wizard dude) and got a bunch of items, but I don't see anything from Destiny 1. I did, however, get the Marathon pre-order items, which I did pre-order on Steam. This makes me think I picked the wrong main account. Can I check if I'm eligible for anything? Would I have had to make the Xbox account the main cross save account to get them, and would it be possible at all to not have to wait 90 days to figure out if this is true?
TLDR:
I played D1 on Xbox and recently purchased D2 on Steam. I made my Steam account the main Cross Save account. I haven't gotten anything in the legacy items blog post (https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049199871-Legacy-Support-for-Destiny-1-FAQ), but I did get items for preordering Marathon on Steam. Is there any way to see my eligibility, and would making the Xbox account the main Cross Save account do anything?
Thank you for any help! I appreciate any! I'm looking forward to hopefully revisiting some of the stuff I remember from D1 here. I need to see that guy Crota again!

1 ReplyEdited by BNGHelp3: 6/19/2026 2:58:20 PMHey there. Back in 2017 as one time-action, Destiny 1 characters were migrated to Destiny 2. You can read the most of it here -> https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049199871-Legacy-Support-for-Destiny-1-FAQ For those migrated characters, you would be given a number of exclusive veteran emblems depending on your in-game accomplishments, and some of the dialogue would be changed to reflect the character's veteran status. These are the only changes, no gear, weapons, etc, migrated over. A few caveats, 1 - The article says "There is currently no time limit or expiration date on accessing Destiny account data that was migrated to Destiny 2", however it seems there WAS an expiry date and it was around 2020. If you do not see any Destiny 2 characters on your XBox account, then either they never qualified, or they did but they were never locked in by launching Destiny 2 on XBox before this expiration date. Since it was a one-off action, it can't be re-initiated here and now. 2 - The article was written before cross-save was a thing. Due to the way emblem ownership works for certain types of emblem (preorder, veteran), even if the XBox characters did migrate and did have the veteran emblems, they would not be available while playing on Steam through cross-save. Based on that, you're in category 1, characters didn't qualify for migration or migrated but not accessed in time, and so there's nothing you can do now, there's no way to get the veteran status/items even on XBox. Questions about cross-save itself are not relevant.
