Pretty much the title - not really lore related but certainly creative writing! Posted this elsewhere and it got some traction so I figured it'd work out here as well. Thanks! I am brave I am devoted I am afraid of the changes the winds bring that shift the ground beneath me and whisper to me a truth that I already know. of forgetting the moments that made my head light with cross-eyed crazy elation. I am in love– with the ways in which I can see Mercury and Neptune, and everything in between, move against the calculus of the light and of the dark. with waking up with hope in my heart knowing today is a new day, and that there is still so much left for me to do, for me to navigate—like an intrepid Traveler. I am a sacrifice one that has been inspired by the tales and strands of the very fabric of this universe. that offers and immolates himself every day so that he may return to a life that never really existed. Thus, I barely understand this thing called life, let alone resurrection, let alone loss. But there is a saying, older than I am, that light cannot shine without darkness. So be it faith or frenzy or a falcon moon rising like a starship to rage against the night, I will be a guardian. Once again a nine year old boy, enraptured by mystery and mayhem begging for answers to a universe not too different from my own. Not knowing that the moments I spent Traveling and wondering, living a life of my own— was the answer all along. I will wait for a day that I can once again dance with all of my fellow guardians. For at the end of it all, it’s these memories that I truly cherish and will carry with me until the day I am delivered from this Earth.
