I would love a D3, I would even settle for an extension on D2…however…
We all tend to forget how often Bungie has fallen short, or let us down, or made the same kind of mistakes.
D1 vanilla was problematic, we know there was a lot of stuff that was reworked at the last minute that made the game worse. The first two “expansions” were very meh. Then taken king came and was amazing and more or less turned the game around.
D2 got released. It was problematic. A bunch of decisions (static rolls, double primary) were made that made the game worse. The first two expansions were meh. Then forsaken came and more or less turned the game around.
Then the game went up and down through subsequent expansions. Down with content vaulting. Up with witch queen. Down with lightfall. Up with final shape. Down with everything after that, now this final update again looks great with things we have asked for, for YEARS.
Do we as a community honestly believe that Bungie is learning and applying what they’ve said they’ve “listened” to?
Can we honestly expect that a D3 wouldn’t follow the exact same path because they’ve done it twice with their last two games not to mention the entire plagiarism debacle with marathon on TOP of the times they got caught doing it with destiny on TOP of the “don’t over deliver” and preferring to focus on executive pay bonuses rather than retain frontline talent?
Bungie has shown over and over that while there are a few good people who work there, that the mindset of the company is not consumer friendly or supportive of their employees. They’ve shown us exactly who they are. It’s time to believe their actions, not their words. Yes, they do great work when their back is against the wall but that should not be the standard we settle for.
I would love a D3. I would love an extension on D2.
I just don’t think I could EVER trust Bungie leadership to get it right.

2 RepliesI'd take a D3 every day of the week over more D2.

This June 9th update has proven that they could have done better they just chose not to. Bungie is done with this game, they do not care about yall at all.
We all tend to forget how often Bungie has fallen short, or let us down, or made the same kind of mistakes.
Maybe, but I feel like most of us are aware that Bungie isn’t very trustworthy, but know it’s better than the franchise getting shelved.

2 RepliesD2 launch was genuinely awful.

I don't have a problem with D2's state (in terms of content). BUT: PVP and PVE Sandboxes require balance to make the game enjoyable in the long term. Without balance, there is no loadout variety. Without loadout variety, there is an increase in player boredom. With an increase in player boredom, there is a decrease in the number of active players. Seriously, if Bungie leaves D2's Sandbox in a terrible state... Then this game is gonna fall off. Fast. Soem Concerns I Already Have About PVP Sandbox (based on the limited math I've had time to do): 1) Touch of Malice 3 tapping in PVP in 0.47s with 179 Weapon stat 2) Invis not being nerfed hard enough (players are still gonna use this one subclass, destroying variety.. Seriously, usage needs to be less than 10% to help foster variety). 3) Full Choke + Shot Package resulting in insane range for pellet shotguns.

I wanted a 10 year space odyssey, that I could play along side ESO. They gave me what I wanted. Even if it's going on 12 years and 2 years of this game was absolutely terrible... 10 years is what I got... lol. They are seemingly leaving it in a much better state than D1.. so I look forward to playing it longer than the 10 year plan I was sold on.

Bungie doing D3 would be more of the same.

5 RepliesAs much as I want more destiny games in general I don't trust bungie with its current leadership. I would much rather no more destiny than the current bungie make D3. Side note I don't want D3 if its gonna be live service either I would much rather have an mmo style game akin to eso but destiny's fun DNA

5 RepliesThis may be overly optimistic but there's a very good chance that the Pete Parson types i.e. the management who were very risk averse, wanted to protect their payout, and would only sign off on things with an obvious revenue return on investment, those people are or will be out of the equation before there's a D3. In that scenario, you just might get a game from people who believe in it and want it to be fun for players rather than a treadmill.
